Ladies, how often do you wear skirts or dresses?
I don't think I've worn one since New Year's Eve. In the summer, I wear them more.

How about you?

4. Rarely if ever...
last dress I wore was probably HS graduation (June 2002) and last skirt I wore was at St. Mary's grammar school (June 1998).

I work in sports medicine, so it's not practical to wear skirts when trying to stretch a hamstring. Plus, they aren't really my "thing"

7. About two or three times a week
Most often, it's one of my favorite denim skirts. And roughly once a week, I'll wear a dress.

Other days, it's usually jeans or similar. Although I have some really great leather pants -- those are best in chilly weather. I last wore those at a conference I attended a few weekends ago.

You're right though -- skirts/dresses are a more common thing for me in the summer.

15. Dear Radical Activist
Please wear suits and ties more often. We like you to be just as uncomfortable as we are.

Thank you.

Sincerely
Mermaid

That said, I wear skirts and dresses in the summertime only. And the amount of time that is is about to be drastically reduced, with my imminent move from nice, warm Texas to bitter-cold Pennsylvania!

Damned if I am gonna freeze my ass!

And if you had any idea, Radical Activist how much of a pain in the ass, and a hassle it is, to get all gussied up in a dress or skirt, when it is so much simpler to throw on a pair of sweats, jeans or slacks...well, damn...like I said, how would YOU like to have to wear a three-piece suit, cuff links, neck tie, and wing tips every day? Bet you wouldn't be very comfortable.

25. I'll TELL You What The Pain In The Ass Is, Radical Activist...
Women's clothes, mostly, are designed by men who don't have to WEAR them! All that elastic digs in and rubs and chafes, and gets itchy, hot, and incredibly uncomfortable real quickly in hot weather...and doesn't provide warmth in cold weather.

Plus, since most of our clothes are designed by men...it seems they want us all to dress as if we were 14 or 40...and nothing in between. either they make the damn dresses or skirts in such a way that they down come down enough to sufficiently cover my ass (the 14-year old look) or they end up looking like they were made of old, recycled Holiday Inn drapery fabric (the 40-year old look)

It sucks. Nothing in between that makes us middle-aged women look good and feel good.

38. I'm 42 -- and as I commented above, I'm into denim
I have several denim skirts in particular that are exceedingly comfortable and actually *easier* to wear than jeans or shorts. Two are nearly knee-length, and two are roughly mid-thigh.

No elastic, nothing to dig in, and one major advantage to a skirt is that it's WAY easier to go to the bathroom.

As for those dresses I mentioned? One of my non-fancy favorites is a long cotton number that looks exceedingly casual -- and yet, I feel better about myself when I make this little bit of extra effort to look nice. Even if nobody but my spouse sees me during the day.

44. Now I Agree With You There
I have a few denim skirts that I enjoy and are quite nice, I also have one denim dress...and a number of cotton jumpers that I enjoy.

But, for me...the look has to be casual, or forget it. Unless we are talking church on Easter Sunday. That's a different story. And that is once a year.

Or a job interview. Even then, I'd prefer a nice pants suit to a skirt if I can help it.

I, too, am addicted to my sneakers. Ever since I started having trouble with my Achilles tendon! God-DAMN heels hurt when you have a stretched Achilles tendon...

12. Dresses? Never.
They are one piece and I am considerably larger on top than on the bottom so one-piece things never fit me right.

Skirts? As little as possible, year round.

In the summer, I stick to shorts and t-shirts.

During the school year, nice dress pants and different tops, blazers, sweaters, etc.

Casual wear during the colder months involves jeans or track pants and a t-shirt.

I am NOT a dressing up kind of person, normally. And I can't stand skirts and dresses.

27. LOL
Actually, I regularly shave my legs, even though I do not wear dresses or skirts all that often. But, a lot of times, during the winter, I "cheat" on shaving...that is, I only shave from the knee down.

How many others of us "cheat" at shaving during the winter? Be honest, ladies!

The best way, I have found, for shaving, incidentally, is when I take a bath. I take a shower to get clean. I take a bath to relax. The point of a bath is not to get clean...it is to relax. Anyway, in the bath, shave your legs underwater. You get a nice, clean, close shave and hardly ever get any nicks or cuts...and you don't have to use any sort of shaving foam or anything like that.

I've never shaved my legs above the knees - I'd be lucky to find 10 short, blond hairs on each leg.

Even below the knee, it's pretty sparse and light.

Shaving above the knee is something I do maybe once every couple of months, if I remember. And below the knee, I shave maybe once a week. Sometimes in winter, I let it go somewhat longer.

47. I'm fortunate to have extremely little body hair
My legs and arms are all but naturally bald, have been my whole life. I always wear stockings at the office, and that helps, too (the material of the stockings seems to wear the hair away on my legs). Most of my girlfriends are convinced I wax but nope, it's natural. The weird thing is I have a lot of hair on my head, including my eyebrows, just not on my arms and legs.

Never. Never. Never. Never.

And don't say, "Never say never," because a dress or skirt will never, ever ever again hang from these hips. I just can't be bothered. It is too god damned much trouble. It's incredibly uncomfortable. Besides, in my current state, if I wore a skirt they could host the Boy Scout Jamboree around my ankles.

Never.

58. 2x week in winter, 5+ in summer.
Airy dresses are more comfortable in the summer, with cotton bike shorts under when it gets REALLY hot to keep the sweat under control. Being slightly knock-kneed makes some bits uncomfortable when things get sticky.

In winter, long, heavy skirts are much warmer on still, cold days than pants, especially when paired with heavy cotton or wool tights. On windy days, of course, nothing's going to help.

I don't mind skirts; being short, length can be painful to alter on pants.

Not because I don't like dresses and skirts, but because I don't have that many occasions to wear them. I have a favorite gray skirt I wear once in a while to church, and some cute summer dresses for going out.
