I Wish You Snowbirds Were Here in Vegas Today - 89º!
Absolutely beautiful. Everybody's doing yard work and enjoying the parks. NASCAR is in town, so the locals are all staying home!

I got the perimeter lights working! And, I trimmed the bushes and the @#$%^% fronds!

Again, wish you were here.

8. I'm in hell...only the temperature won't get there until July.
We had a 3-week stretch last summer where it was in the 108-116 range. Brutal.

15. Even 89 is too hot for me.
Much less 108 or 116. I'll take my 27F and snow.

Glad you enjoyed it though.

Cheers.

3. Tell me all about Vegas! I may move there in the fall!
I'm tired of winter! I know housing prices are astronomical right now, but how's the rental market? What's a good area of town? Enjoy it while you can, because you're gonna get about 30 more degrees tacked onto that 89 pretty soon!

7. I'm living in the Summerlin area which is about 15 years old at best,

Not the time to buy in Vegas: a 3-bdrm on my street goes for $600M. I'm renting a 4-bdrm without pool for $1500 p/m, and I've seen them as low as $1100. Depends if you want a pool and/or spa set up. A with-pool rental is another $300 p/m.

On edit: BTW, there are plenty of rentals. The day we found this, we looked online in the local paper and found 15 rentals within 4 miles of our previous rental that were empty and in our price range. This place was the 5th one we looked at. We took it that day. There's no problem finding a rental in Vegas these days. If you don't mind an apt, a 3-bdrm in my area goes for about $1000.

12. Thansk for the info...I was away and am not just getting back to posting!
Where is Summerlin--is it Vegas proper, or a separate city like Henderson? I would assume that apt. rentals closer to the strip are much cheaper. I wouldn't want to be that close--I recall driving around last October and thinking the closer you are, the seedier it gets. One of the areas maybe a mile or two away from the strip seemed pretty nice. What do you think? :hi:

13. Summerlin is 14 miles NW of the Strip. It's part of Vegas proper,
like N Las Vegas. Henderson is a separate city which is SW of Vegas.

To get to Summerlin, you take Int 15 North to 95, then take that to Summerlin Pkwy. I work down by the Strip a couple of blocks behind the Fashion Mall...it takes me 15-45 minutes for the commute, depending on traffic and accidents (which are myriad!).

There are pockets nearer the Strip that are nice, but they tend to be exclusive...like the area where Siegfried and Roy live...or Rancho Circle...or the old part of Alta Drive. Vegas grows increasingly away from the Strip, pushing out. The new developments are nice but they have no character. And the homes are being built closer and closer together.

This time and the fall are the nicest here. Once the heat hits, it's unbearable.

14. I know! I was there once in late June and it was scorching!
And crowded?

What's the area like going west away from the strip, and close to those mountains you see that way? That seems like a fairly new area, and seems to have its share of apartment buildings! Thanks.

9. It's 60 degrees here, but extremely windy.
I've just returned from my daughter's lacrosse game. I was there with my 5-year-old, huddled into our jackets and under a blanket because the wind was so intense.
