Just got back from a Clark Meet-Up, ask me anything.
It's the first time I've ever gone to a meet-up, or to any event involving this year's presidential candidates. I was impressed by the turnout: there were about a half dozen Clark meet-ups around town, and the one I attended drew around 65 people--this on the night of a Red Sox playoff game!

1. Wow!
We couldn't get enough people here where I live to have a meetup. Where are you?

2. Who would win in a "Hell in the Cell" deathmatch?
Don "the Gerbil" Zimmer, Wesly Clark or Mick Foley?

3. How was it?
The girl doing Students for Clark at my university didn't organize anything - I didn't even hear about it until tonight.

5. There were a lot of people ready to volunteer for Clark.

Unfortunately, it was not as organized as I'd like to see, but it is stil a new campaign; they don't have an office in the state at this time. They did have sign-up sheets for some committees and announced a meeting for volunteers that's coming up soon. And there was a person there specifically to head up the effort with students.

7. Is he the real deal. He seems very confident self assured & relaxed
does he come across that way in person.

Personally I think he is Karl Rove's worst nightmare come to call.

The idiot son does not stand a chance against him IMO.

9. I can't answer that cuz he wasn't there. But, next month
there is a Democratic debate in Boston (which I hadn't even known about) and I think the Meet-Up is the day before....so there's a very good chance he'll be at that one.

And I agree with your opinion.

on edit: We did about the same thing. But we did some networking with people who shared precincts. Everyone was very optimistic and ready to go to work!

13. Organization
One thing I learned during the Perot thingee was that Clark's people had better get an official operation going in every state right away, at least to the extent of appointing a State wide chairperson AND LETTING EVERYONE KNOW WHO IT IS.

There are lots of volunteers milling around out there and they're going to do something, right or not.

Clark said he wanted to hear from us in his statement, so that's my contribution. I'm in Florida and I need to know who actually is talking for the campaign in this state. The longer it takes to get someone in charge, the harder it is for that person to be in charge.

Turf wars are commencing and it'll be better for everyone if they are headed off at the pass.

14. I met a common thinker at my meetup
We agreed on everything from our reasons for supporting Clark to our list of alternative candidates! We were able to attract a group of college liberals who became involved in the discussion. It was a good meeting.

15. Great meetup in NJ
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 10:33 PM by madmax
At Barnes & Noble. It's a good thing we had 17 people show up. The management was not happy with the large number of people taking up seats in their coffee bar, lol. We'll be growing so we will need to vote on a better venue.

Ages ranged from early 20's to late 50's. Topics included why the General will kick bush's back to Texas. Also, venting of frustrations with the illegal chimpster. Some had supported other candidates until Clark announced. I'm one of those.

I've never been involved in any political campaign so I'm looking for some leadership. In the mean time I thinking of hosting a house party (fundraiser) to introduce people to Clark and his qualifications and pry some cash out of them for Clark's campaign :)

Kool Kitty from DU and her hubby were there, too. Great to have a friend from DU in r/l :hi: Kitty
