How should a visitor to Finland react to the following proposition? You are invited to take off all your clothes and go to a little room heated to almost 100 Cº, where you will sit, naked, with others for a while and sweat. Then you will go outside and jump (still naked) through a small hole in the ice on a lake, the sea or whatever and refresh yourselves in the freezing water - or roll in the snow instead.

23. I have a feeling -- just a suspicion, mind you -- that score-keeping

in this sport is somewhat primitive and often well-lubricated with warming fermented spirits. Maybe he would get an asterisk by his name in the score tallies?

This has got to be sort of hard on skis, too. And if he spreadeagles too far to spare his skis, that opens him up to other sorts of injuries, so to speak.

I would like to see a written history of this sport. What a hoot! Maybe we can stage a LTTE campaign to convince the Shrub that this is the only MANLY way to clear brush! ;)
