Blasted @#$%@#$ mail-in rebates!!!

They are nothing but a scam. I have tried to contact the "corporation" that does Best Buy's rebates, and have been on hold with a long distance number for 45 minutes. They're lucky I have free long distance. I have been waiting for my $50 rebate for 12 months, and nothing has come.

Whatever happened to customer service??? Why must I be disrespected and defiled by scam offers from supposedly respectable businesses? I have already sent Best Buy a complaint. They better fire this corporation right away. This is fascism at work right here.

1. I've never bothered with mail-in rebates,

because I know enough people who've been ripped off.

When I see a price tag that says, "$59.99 with $20 mail-in rebate," I say, "Oh, it's $79.99."

2. Rebates are and always have been

nothing but a scam, no question. I don't even bother with them, there's no point to it. All they are is a scam to get you to buy the item thinking you're getting it for less than you really are and thinking it's some great deal when it isn't.

in the media about best buy not honoring their rebates. there used to be a web site called bestbuysucks.com. there were some horror stories listed on there. i have not bought from best buy for a few years now because of the negative press i have read

4. Who processes the rebate

Have you checked their web site ?

I do a LOT of rebates and while I have occasional problems the vast majority are processed though they almost always wait the whole prescribed period and a little longer to fulfill them.

It is a $50 rebate. They have just hung up on me after being on hold for 48 minutes. What bullshit.

I should write to the president of Best Buy himself.

..fact that I've gotten screwed out of my Rebates 3 times. I buy my stuff now at Circuit Shitty or CompUSA...
