The inevitable question: American Idol.
I've never been much into it. As a matter of fact, before this year's competition, I've only seen one show. (And only then because I was visiting a friend who was pulling for Ruben.)

But this year, there's a guy in the competition who seems to be a really normal guy. He's older than the other people on the show, and he's not the typical pop singer. His name is Bo Bice, and he has done songs by the Allman Bros and tonight by Edwin McCain.

I'm pulling for him, because he's a working class guy who had to give up his job to compete on the show. Something about him is just more "real" than what I see in the other competitors. He's down to earth and really talented.

I can't stand the other long-haired guy on the show--Constantine something.

Who are you pulling for?

1. I like Constantine and Bo, i'd be happy if both of them made it.
I like the really irritating and hilarious Mikaela as well. She makes me laugh and I love her voice. Very different. I can't believe she's only 17.

3. :-)
I thought she had a birthday since the auditions, wow, even more impressive. I love how excited she gets, it's the best! That kind of enthusiasm cannot be faked.

4. I wish Bo would drop out
But not because I dislike him.

I did at first, because, I thought, no self-respecting rocker would enter a karaoke competition like American Idol.

He seems like the real deal though, (as opposed to Constantine, who's a total poseur).

My reason for wanting him to drop out is, He's performed well enough to get a record deal with somebody, and if he quits now, he'd maintain his rocker cred with the rock n roll fan base.

While some would still like him, a lot of rock fans would never take him seriously for winning a competition that's the antithesis of rock n roll.

8. I've thought the exact same thing.
And my opinion about Constantine is identical to yours. :-)

10. A sentiment I concur with. Bo is not in his element. American Idol is
stereotyped as being over-glorified karaoke. Even I will admit he's better than what he is trying to use to launch a career.

5. Nadia. By far. And Constantine? I can topple him over with this:
Nadia is energetic and interesting. Obviously too good for the show or today's uber-bland style of 'music'.

And Constantine? Compare his lifeless and anemic squelching of "Kiss From a Rose" to Seal's infinitely more talented original and wish you could personally give Constantine a larynx replacement! Constantine put no effort WHATSOEVER into his performance, and cheapening a great song in the process with his inability to master emotion in vocalization, which I feel is rather important in music!

7. Constantine doing Kiss From a Rose was just painful
It's such a beautiful, soulful song when Seal sings it.

It sounded so shallow and vapid when Constantine sang it.

9. Did you see him do Hard to Handle
last week? Or Everything She Does is Magic this week? Horrid. Truly frightening.

His screeching embellishments make me blush for him. Yuck.

11. I like Bo.
He's bringing something to this show that it desperately needed.

He lives in the next little village down the road from where I live, and when I drove through there the other day there were all these signs out in support of him. He plays in little bars around here. I just told my husband I wish we'd gone to see him before. Now, whether he wins or not, he'll be so famous we'll never get in.

I have to admit, I'm a regular American Idol watcher. I just love it, the good, the bad and all. This year has, as a whole, better singers than previous years.

I think Constantine has to go this week. Also, unfortunately, Travis, the black guy with the short hair and the huge smile. He is absolutely adorable, but not as good a singer as the rest.
