Poll question: Does your cat announce his arrival whenever he enters a room?
My cat Harlon meows at the top of his lungs whenever he enters my bedroom and demands I pet him and pay total attention to him. And what makes it stranger is that he's a tuxedo so it looks like he just arrived to a party that's in my bedroom.

1. our cats
prefer the stealth method. they slip into the room, then scale your leg when you aren't paying attention

my leg as a scratching post...until I pick him up. And, at his size, that's no easy feat! :hi:

And I almost forgot...he loves to "warble" in the middle of the night. It reminds me of Hank singing "I'm so Lonesome I Could Cry".

6. Mine will screech at other cats
We had a barn kitten that someone adopted and we really liked. Anyway everytime he came into the house, either invited or uninvited, if Harlon saw him he would release a mirror shattering growl that was like nothing I ever heard.

19. AWESOME!! I had a cat that kicked the dogs ass
I had a six toe, calicoe, minx female named Suzie and we had two Aussie pups that were trying to play with her on the deck. Suzie was out there and she got super pissed and tore the shit of them. My grandma told that I need to make she isn't out there with the dogs or she'll hurt the dogs.

3. One of my cats is extremely chatty
Edited on Sat Feb-26-05 07:48 PM by Kathy in Cambridge

This is Reno. He can't help himself-he comments on everything.

"Brrrp" when he jumps on the bed. "Brrrp" when he jumps down from the mantel. "ROAWOAOAW" when there's a squirrel in the yard.

And all kinds of vocalizations, some of which mean:
"Clean the damn litterbox"
"Give me some of that ice cream"
"You made chicken and didn't give me any?"
"I hate when you're gone all day"
"You've been cheating with other kitties"
"You expect me to eat this crap?"
"I'm really pissed you're paying more attention to Noah than me"
"I'll do whatever I damn well please"

4. I think mine says "Get off DU and pet me."
"He I need tuna Goddammit"
"Turn on Malloy" At about 9:58 on weekdays.
"Malloy's on" Right after Mike speaks.
"I want more Malloy" Right after Malloy goes off the air.

as Mike did a very angry and loud high-pitched sound, the cat hissed at my speakers and knocked them both off my desk!

7. "You expect me to eat this crap?" ... LOL!!
One of my cats goes through the digging motions of trying to bury his dish of food, when he doesn't like it.

8. He usually sneaks in quietly and nuzzles up for a hello 'scratchy'
But if he's been out for a while, he announces as soon as he's through his little window. Almost as though he's saying "Hey! Anyone home?"

10. oh yes, they do. Lewis chirps and gurgles and makes all kinds
of interesting little sounds.

he has whole conversations, I talk back to him

Thomas is a Siamese. enough said

Clark does this weird kind of purr/meow/gurgle mix

Zilla is much quieter.

But Lewis definitely lets you know he is in the room

16. Sort of....
But not vocally.

You are alerted by either:

1) Her obnoxiously scratching my dining room chairs, even after she's been given a scratching post AND been squirted with the water bottle numerous times!

2) Her tearing around the living and dining rooms like a monkey on crack, her claws making scratching sounds on the carpet as she does.

3) Her psychotically darting through the vertical blinds, setting my teeth on edge (CLATTERCLATTERCLATTER!!!!!!)

Little does the little monster know that she's being taken in first thing Monday morning for fixing at LAST.

shit afterwards. Her entire underside was all sucked in and she hid from us for four days and she was sore for two weeks.

20. Poor baby.
I'm not relishing doing this. This is the first un-fixed kitty I've ever had. But she's making us mental every few weeks when she hits heat.

I have to do this so I don't throw her against the wall the next time she starts with the plaintive "I'M HOOOOOOOORNY!" yowls.

That was a JOKE, animal rights activists. Stand down.

21. (brushing cat hair out of face) No.
They come in and wait to see if I notice them. Two of them then jump up on the computer table (one is quite good at walking on the keyboard) - and one snuggles in happily at my feet.

Just as I read this post, Roo was shoving his butt in my face (which I understand is a cat compliment). He is now resting on the monitor.

22. Mine has a tiny, pipsqueak meow.
And yet, he's quite the talker. He doesn't have that deep, throaty meow that my other talkers always had. He always announces himself when he enters the room, or when we walk into a room he is in. He's very sociable when he's not in "I want to kill you!!!" mode.

24. I have a Maine Coon Tabby mix
He never shuts up. Morning, noon and night...bitch bitch bitch. He waits for me to clean his litter box, then takes a huge dump and then describes it in detail to the entire neighborhood.
