Mallard Fillmore is neither funny nor insightful; I tend to think a comic strip should be at least one or the other.

It's basically either a daily right-wing rant, with illustrations... or a daily unfunny political joke, with illustrations.

I know there *are* a few funny conservatives out there; you'd think they'd be able to come up with something better than this.

If it wasn't that papers that don't want to be accused of having a liberal bias (they need to learn they're going to continue to be accused regardless of whether they actually show any bias or not; it's a successful tactic of the right) picked up this lousy strip as a sort of "affirmative action" (don't you know they hate acknowledging that?) for right-wingers, this strip would have gone nowhere. There are better politically-themed comic strips coming out of college newspapers.

And she's expected to know what that means? It could mean anything. It could be about a video game. Why couldn't they provide her with the specific time and place of the attack? Dubya was on vacation at the time the memo came, and Condi was spending most of her time masturbating on the oval office desk while holding dubya's picture.

...don't you think it is SO TYPICAL that America just swallowed whole the story that it was all the CIA's fault the intelligence wasn't provided to prevent 9/11, when Condi-LIE-zza herself said in sworn testimony that the CIA had delivered a paper to the prez and admin saying "Bin Laden determined to attack U.S." and outlining how he could do it by hijacking planes?

I mean, I just read in an AP story about Porter Goss the flat-out unattributed statement made by the writer that the CIA had failed to provide information to prevent 9/11. That's flatly untrue!

We all live in this information matrix that masks what is really going on, except for the few people with the time and access to read widely enough to learn the whole story.

The CIA gathered some intelligence, as did agents of the FBI. We also received information from the Russians and the Philippines; but while there was enough intelligence information to stop 911, there appears to have been no coordination...no leadership. The 911 commission looked only at the intelligence gathering aspect of the failure, but that wasn't where the problem was. The problem wasn't with the CIA, it was with the FBI and the white house. They did find problems within the CIA, and they used these problems as a distraction from the real failure(?) of 911. It amazes me that they've gotten away with it.

Black conservatives understand that they get move up the party ranks faster by being Republicans, as Republicans are eager to show off their rare black members in public. In the Democratic Party blacks are a dime a dozen and there is more competition to move up the party's ranks. Yet the Republican party platform offers nothing to black Americans, and 88%-95% of black Americans understand this, even if the Democratic Party has its shortcomings. Conservatism and the contemporary Republican Party are for white people and exist to preserve entrenched privileges for white Americans, especially white male heterosexual well to do Protestants. After 1964 the Republican Party abandoned its support for civil rights.

Rice is just a dishonest, scheming, manipulative and condescending politician. Her absolute loyalty to the Bush Family always takes precedence over what is best policy for the country. She is an intelligent woman, yes, but no more intelligent than others who have held her positions in government and academia. I certainly don't feel as if I owe Rice any special respect because of her artificially elevated title or because she is black.
