2. depends on circumstances

we had 6 of them out at the farm but they were all fixed and well cared for; however, it was very time-consuming cleaning three cat boxes every other day (yeah I know you're supposed to clean them daily but I tell you I would go mad if I had to do that). :o

4. I had 6 earlier in the year...but alas...Mariko was old.
So now I just I just have 5.

I still miss my bestest friend though. Mariko was the greatest.

5. Cats times Infinity is still not enough!
Actually, as many as you can reasonably care for is probably the right number!

6. Depends on the size of your house and your ability to take care of them.
I have two, and their homebase is my bedroom. I let them out to the rest of the house, but keep them in my room at night.

I had five in my old house. My ex-girlfriend took the rest, but it was a decent situation.

I figure at least a bedroom per three cats. Then you should be okay.

7. Holy Moses! I could add 5 cats! We only have 4 for 3 bedrooms!
And they all cuddle with us on the bed at night.

One that sits on my chest while I read in bed. When I put the book down he leaves, jumps off the bed and leaves the room. A second one who comes over then when i put my glasses down and turn out the light. She crawls under the covers next to me (for a while) until I fall asleep.

The two big ones sleep by our knees or at the foot of the bed.

8. Definitely! There's so many cats that need homes.
I know you're being sarcastic, but a few more cats can be good for you.

9. There can never be too many
Although I suppose I could draw the line at 20 if you're in a small apartment. ;)

Actually, being quite honest, I think that for some people there should be a limit. There are certain people who actually have a serious mental condition known as collectors syndrome. They often make the news because of the deplorable conditions they live in and they "collect" cats as if they were artifacts. They're the ones you see on the news with dead and/or dying animals that the animal control people often have to put to sleep because the conditions of their living space are so horrific. The problem is, these people have a mental illness that is a side-shoot of obsessive compulsive disorder, and need serious help. There is definitely a difference between a "collector" who has 50 cats and a person with a multi-acred farm or property where there are many cats to help with the pest control. A friend of mine had, at one point, 18 cats, but they had a 17 acre farm and only a few of the cats were indoor ones.

I think the answer should be you should never have more cats than you can handle, both financially and emotionally.

10. Speaking as one who has seven, I'll have to go with seven.
We've had nothing but problems since last summer. First with #2, now with #1. I've had it. All I do lately is clean up after them. One of them is always barfing, pooping or pissing somewhere. They are ruining my home. It stinks. Literally. And repairing their damage is costing a fortune.

11. A cat for every pot. YUM!
I have six beasties inside. If I had the money and time, I'd have even more. I feed various strays outside and sometime they'll worm their way inside.

I always thought four were enough, but a couple cats had different ideas and that was that. Cats always win.

13. Six
That's how many we have and, believe me, that's our absolute limit--we can't afford any more. I spent about $85 on Fancy Feast, kitty litter, and Nature's Miracle this weekend.

14. I have two, and two is enough.
They keep each other company but they aren't that much more trouble than one. If I went to three I'd have to add a second litter box for sure and I just don't want to deal with that. Maybe I should try that kitty potty training again... I got mine soooo close.
