Ted Turner challenged Murdoch to boxing match
Okay it was in 1997 -- Consider this 'Ted Turner's greatest hits'. He recently compared the popularity of Fox News to Hitler winning an election (and btw, is that metaphor more about Fox or more about the USA in 2005 being like Germany circa 1934?). But anyway the Hitler stuff is nothing new for Turner and he used to be funnier about it.

Ted Turner wants to settle his feud with Rupert Murdoch in the boxing ring, challenging him to a pay-per-view clash of media heavyweights. "It would be like 'Rocky,' kind of only for old guys," Turner said Thursday, jokingly issuing a challenge he's made before. "If he wants, he can wear head gear. I won't."
...
The feud between Turner and Murdoch, head of News Corp., went public last year after Turner's Time-Warner refused to carry Murdoch's Fox News channel on its important New York City cable system. Last year, Turner compared Murdoch to Adolf Hitler by saying that "like the late fuhrer he controls the media for his own personal benefit." Turner later apologized the to Anti-Defamation League, but not to Murdoch.

"Boxers are getting older and older. What's wrong with a 58-year-old fighting a 66-year-old?" Turner, the younger of that pairing, said Thursday, "He hasn't declined, but I'm deadly serious."

I would have paid to see that and I sure wish he still controlled CNN.

2. No, it's just the hoity-toity politicians that prefer armed matches
Down and dirty fighters like Uncle Ted prefer the bare knuckled approach.

Love that man. I think I may do lunch today at Ted's Montana Grill. I go to the one he's usually at if he's in town (he does talk with his mouth full sometimes).

3. So long as Fox films it and makes it available for broadcast
I'll watch.

:D

Murdoch would have probably shot on the 8th step.
