The beautiful San Francisco Peaks of northern Arizona
That is Humphrey's Peak on the left, over 12,000 feet in elevation, the highest point in the state. This view is from I-40 eastbound, on the way to Flagstaff. Taken by Nini on Sunday, January 23.

1. To think my Uncle Red used to live in Flagstaff and
could behold such beauty on a daily basis...

His wife did not like the Flagstaff winters so they moved "down mountain" to Cottonwood (near Sedona).

2. This has been the biggest winter in over a decade
It isn't easy at times, so I understand. Do have to say I see why the Navajo and Hopi both consider these peaks sacred. They are, gloriously.

3. They are gorgeous
When I was out in Arizona they had very little snow on them. Very different now.

4. I might add...
This view is from the west, and Flagstaff sees them from the south, which does have less snow on that side, because of the angle the sun hits them. This winter has shown us more what they are supposed to be like, but the long drought has prevented until now.

Hopefully you can see them this way next time you venture out, winter time.
