Name something you love about your job.
Is it hard for you to come up with something? Or is it hard to pick just one thing? Also, are you at work right now, and if so are you on a scheduled break? Or are you sneaking DU time?

It's hard to pick just one thing I love about my job, but today I'm most happy that a big part of my job is writing. I love writing, and I especially love when I get the wording just right in a proposal or an appeal letter.

Also, I'm now on my lunch break.

:)

Your turn!

:hi:

9. I like that.
Productivity is what counts. It's great to have a job where people have that understanding. I hate that look-busy kind of work environment that is usually full of so much waste.

3. I steal time all day
I don't mind my job for the most part. The money sucks, but they let us get away with a lot.
We were just bought out by an American company and they gave us back pay for any vacation we didn't take and any that we accrued. Our fiscal year was from May to May, but now it starts in Jan. So I just got a pretty decent check...so that was good.
I don't know if there is anything I really "love", but a lot that I like. I like the fact that I barely made it out of high school, but these people gave me a job as an Electrical Engineer, and even if I suck I will always have that on my resume'. I guess you can love that part of it.

There are days when I don't see or speak to a single soul. My office is just me and I have days where I have to work on paperwork or developing a project and I just hole myself up.

It's great. But I can't take too many days like that in a row. Gets to be pretty depressing.

I'm a government employee & I write speeches, personal columns, news releases, etc. for lawmakers. Exciting, huh? The only crappy part is that I have to be "apolitical, nonpartisan" - so I write whatever I'm asked! Have to bite my tongue quite a bit .. x( Every so often, though, I get to be really creative & write something fun & interesting. That's the best part.

16. I make my own hours and I have no boss
I love being a realtor. Although it takes a heck of a lot of work to be good at it, and you have to be self diciplined enough to make it work, but it's all subcontract work.

I have no boss but me. I have no limit to the income I can make every year depending on how I apply myself. I earn straight commission instead of a salary which would freak most people out right there.

And I love it. I get to work on the oceanfront in a resort town and watch the bikinis go by all day in the summer. My income is derived from the purchase and sale of oceanfront property and investments, and i'm good at my job.

Whee!

Educators in Texas are forbidden by state law to have any collective bargaining power. Doesn't that just suck rocks?

We can have "professional organizations" and get car rental discounts and legal representation (if you have a good enough case, ie: they think they can win) but that's it.

27. My hours
As long as I get in my 8 hours and take care of my people - I can go into the office at ANY time.

Last night, I worked from 9:00 pm and I got off this morning at about 6:00 am.

Oh, and I get to write too.

And being able to write is what's kept me around for 17 years.

No one else that I compete with can do what I can do with a keyboard and a objective.

NO ONE.

If you can write, and if you can speak in front of groups of people confidently, you can take out most anyone.

Everyone that works for me has a degree.

I do not.

They can't stand up in front of 30 people and talk for twenty minutes, and get as many laughs as serious questions.

They can't sit down in front of a keyboard and knock out a document that's understood, and still is human and humorous.

I can write and they can't.
And if you have that skill, you are not going to go unnoticed.

44. this is a good topic for a thread
I'd say the thing I like best about my many jobs:

a) teaching--when a student writes something like this on my evaluation: "Professor is dedicated to being a good teacher and really cares about her students," or, "I thought I would hate this class but it turned out to be my best one."

b) Web design--the look on a client's face when they see their first Web page.

c) landlord--get a check in the mail, on time, no headaches, no complaints, no repairs that month. Pure bliss.

90% of them dislike Bush.
The other 10% are ex-military, gung-ho, Clinton hating psychos.

I get to deliver a sermon everyday on the news, and how bad the Monkey really is.

The funny part about it is, they all pile on with their own ideas of why Bush sucks.

80. I help educate college students
I ensure to the best of my authority that my college History textbooks are of the kind that Lynne Cheney thinks are going to destroy America. You know, the ones that talk about how developed the "New World" was when Columbus arrived, and so on.

84. I get a project and people basically leave me alone
:D I get to edit programming books all day and listen to classical music in the background. Very peacful actually. :-) And when I do have to face people, most of my coworkers are very nice. :D

It's in the field that I went to school for.

86. My Employees
They are flexible, hardly complain except to make the process or procedures better, and they are funny! They are also good cooks or know good restaurants, and they celebrate my husband as much as me when the situation merits.

87. Because my boss lets me surf DU
all day. As long as I get my work done too, she doesn't mind in the slightest. In fact, she asks for updates. I am currently at home though.
