Bill Murray Qoutes
Edited on Wed Jul-16-03 12:35 AM by HEyHEY
"He says, on your deathbead, you will find inner peace...so I got that going for me." - Caddyshack.

"We can't leave her here, they'll pick her bones clean."- Where the buffalo rome.

"Take aim at the richkids, get them in the crosshairs and take them down. There is one thing they can't buy...backbone." - Rushmore (I think that is not quite accurate.)

Edit: wow typo city

1. My fave Bill Murray movie is...

Ground Hog day... I could watch that movie over and over again and I would not mind at all...

I know (holding my head down) I'm a sick sick man

13. I share your sickness
Though "What About Bob" would probably (barely) win top slot in my Bill Murray pantheon....

I watch both of them over, and over, and over, and over, and over.....

I got you, babe.

24. I'm there
went through a time when I watched it repeatedly, and still pop it in pretty often. Classic stuff. Every time I hear I've got you Babe, I laugh even harder than the song deserves.

2. I thought it was 'total consciousness'
that the dalai lama gave him for caddying. instead of a tip, "a little something for the effort.'

by the way, our dumbass then-governor once asked THE Dalai Lama if he'd ever seen "Caddyshack"
I'm not making this up.
The Dalai Lama allowed as how he'd never heard of such a thing, and his staff and his escorts were profoundly embarrassed....just one of a long string of pointless fuckups by Jesse Ventura.

25. The quote in its entirety
So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock.

So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking.

So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one -- big hitter, the Lama -- long, into a ten-thousand foot crevice, right at the base of this glacier. And do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga...gunga -- gunga galunga.

So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consiousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

17. Thanks for that line!!! I was trying to come up with that the other day.
I know it follows, "You can't go, all the plants are gonna die!"

(I needed that line the dreaded day Karl Malone became a Laker. Oh yeah, that's today.)

5. I loved Ed Wood...

I know that's crazy talk, but I'm kind of a fan of Johnny Depp and Ed Wood was a genuinely fascinating tragic personality. You can't help but like the guy.

The Ed Wood Guide

by Bob Bankard
PhillyBurbs Special Sections

"We are, all of us, in the gutter - but some of us are looking at the stars"
- Oscar Wilde

It is difficult to explain - and even more difficult to defend - my abiding love for the films of Ed Wood. His work has been much maligned; he has been named 'The Worst Director of All Time'. His films crowd each other at the bottom of any 'Z' grade film list.

And rightly so.

His movies have all the panache of grade school plays, with sets cobbled together with kitchen utensil helmets, photo enlargers used as death rays, and the liberal substitution of cardboard for masonry. The scripts are pathetic and fervid, with dialogue slightly less believable than that found in any issue of 'True Crime' comics.

Yet, since his death in 1978, his fan base has exploded, with tens of thousands of rabid devotees. He was the subject of a loving film biography by modern cinema rebel Tim Burton, and his 'masterpiece', "Plan 9 from Outer Space", has been sited as Fox Mulder's favorite film. This sort of idolization in the face of ineptitude leaves the mainstream of film fans thunderstruck and galled. How can it be that productions so devoid of merit be so lionized?

16. Quick Change! What an excellent movie!
Although my favorite line from that movie, which I use constantly, is from Randy Quaid when they see the two guys on bikes jousting with brooms:

"It's bad luck just *seeing* something like that!

His delivery is perfect! Now I have to watch that movie tonight! Is that out on DVD yet?

He should have gotten an Oscar for "Rushmore".

"One of my rules is: never date a girl who sleeps above the covers"

"actually it's more of a guideline than a rule"
