Edited on Wed Jan-12-05 11:49 PM by SemiCharmedQuark
I don't know much about cars...but recent additions have to include the Plymouth Prowler.

With thanks to poster below...credit where credit is due.

I have to add the Honda Fuya-Jo...

Mrs. Ironflange drove one for many years, a '76 in the same light blue as that one. Go ahead, laugh. It had the V6 in it, and it could leave almost any other car standing when the light turned green.

I didn't like being tailgated in it, though.

Mrs. Ironflange's mid-life crisis vehicle. You're right, it's funny looking, but you can't tow a big trailer or haul a ton of gravel in a Civic.

That's where you get naked, pour Mazola Oil on the "fastback" and take turns sliding down it!

The Dodge Charger was also good for that.

60. My Nominee - the 1962 Dodge Dart

My kid sister had one as her first car - someone had given it to my father because he didn't need it any more. Hers was a four-door hardtop like the one in this ad, only white with a blue vinyl interior.

She used to say this car looked like it had been designed by a committee - the day after the annual Christmas Party.

75. No WAY, Man ... ANY Dodge Dart was BEAUTIFUL!
Did this '62 have that hydraulic transmission -- with the buttons you pushed on the steering column?

My first car was The Great Brown Magnet, a 1974 Dodge Dart -- milk chocolate-colored with a tan roof. Best car I EVER had. I miss that car to this day -- with the cigarette burns in the upholstery from my misspent youth, and the dings in the left front fender from a New York City taxicab. It WAS a magnet, because it attracted other cars.

Darts were beautiful. DAMMIT, I miss them so!

85. Yes, It Had the Pushbutton Tranny
All Chrysler products did from the mid-'50s through 1964. They went back to regular shifters in 1965, after they realized that they were losing sales to driving schools.

Darts were nice from 1963 on - that's when it became a compact. The '62 was a mid-sized car. And the earlier Darts were full-size and even uglier, as shown in the ad below.

Edited on Thu Jan-13-05 01:09 AM by CO Liberal
The fastback roof looked cute when AMC had a show car like this based on their small car, the Rambler American. But when they went into production, they based it on the mid-sized Rambler Classic. Later on (for its last year of production), they based it on the full-sized Ambassador, and that one was just plain hideous.

86. The Homer is the Ugliest Car Ever Created.

"In the classic episode of The Simpsons where Homer meets his long lost brother, he gets to design his dream car. Well it turned out to be so good we had to include it here. Unfortunately for homer it cost $82,000 to build and ruined his brother's business - but at least it played 'La Cucaracha' when he sounded the horn. There is no truth in the rumour that Citroen tried to license the design."
