She does it all. I'm up here in the NC mountains. I have a painter scheduled to do touch-up work in the Greenville (SC) condo tomorrow. A conflict came up. M-I-L will unlock for the painter and get him on the phone with me for instructions. That is worth at least six hours of my time. I'm lucky to have such a great mother-in-law.
On edit: She is a very young 82. Plays tennis every day.
Give her a big hug, she deserves it. My MIL was a B I T C H. She is dead now and time hasn't soften how I feel about her. She caused a lot of crap around here. I only went to the funeral to make sure she was pack to go. That may seen bad but there are some people in this world who are meant only to give grief to others. She was one of them.Im glad we all out lived her
2. It's nice you appreciate her. She sounds like a winner.
My wife by the way, loves my stepmother. She never met my real mother, who has been gone almost thirty years, but I'm sure my wife would have loved her too.
I was going to suggest sending a little something to her that she wouldn't get for herself - something splurgy (we so rarely splurge on ourselves)... but as I started typing it occured to me that she is probably the type who might rather just appreciate knowing that she is helping out in a way that makes a difference in the daily life of those she loves. In that case - just pure appreciation would make her day :D *though splurgy type gifts are rather enjoyable for both the giver and the givee*
7. Careful, that can lead to her being your ex- mother in law...
OTH, I've almost always gotten along well with the parents of the women I've dated. I had one set write me a letter saying that they were sorry that things turned out the way they did.....
