1. Same thing..I just got home from work and read about it......ouch.
It really sucks because I got into some flamewars with him a few times, and never knew that he was in such bad shape....I'll remember him for being LBN's very breath and spirit, and for being as dedicated to this site as anyone.

Shit, the good guys just took a loss.....I hope he's in peace now.

9. I don't know
He was doing what he loved to do and it was supposedly instant. I'm trying to look at it as he went with his boots on.

10. He LIVED at the computer ....
It was his window on the world.
The BatCave, above ground.
He ate there, slept there, talked on the phone from there ...
It was the appropriate place for him to be, as Pitt said.

He wasn't in 'bad shape' (ill) so much has he had a history of health issues from which he never seemed to get a break.

The one consolation I have is that now, for him, nothing hurts anymore - not his feet, not his teeth, not his joints ... he's shed
that cloak and is on the other side, pain free.

Now the hurt belongs to us. :(

13. Me either, I talked with him Friday.
We're starting Indy DU Meetups, and he and I were the ringleaders, as we were back in '03 for Dean.

It won't feel the same without him there. :(

14. I read Pitt's post obviously and he said that he was only 37
Too young to go, god why do so many have to die so young, I lost a classmate of mine a few summers ago. I saw him a few days ago defending Indiana by bringing up Debs and stuff.

15. He came a hell of a long way ...
From not being at all interested in politics, to going off the booze cold turkey when Bush got selected in 2000, to his work with Truthout and here locally in Indy. But there was so much left to do.

Sigh.

16. he wasn't political before 2000?
I did not know that. Yeah there was a lot to do but the fight goes on, let's do it for him and the others who have passed on too soon.

17. Nope.
He was a Goth/Sci Fi/Net Dude, but the first Selection pissed him off so much that he found his way to DU, and started voraciously gobbling up as much as he could about politics, watching CSPAN and the news networks, posting, getting tips on writing, etc.

And after we met in mid-01, we joined a couple of the local activist groups together & then decided to the Dean thing in 03.

He made monumental strides in learning a variety of subjects and put his heart and soul into every single one of them.

18. Interesting
because if you read his posts which I did you'd get the impression that he'd been in the political activism biz for a while.

And when he decided he wanted to rout the fundies, he went with both at it guns a'blazin' & learned as much in 3 years as I've learned in 12.

20. Nobody know exactly what happened, yet, John,
but I'm sure that we'll be told when they do know. His amazing mother tried to post for him to let his DU family know what happened, an incredible gesture for her, under those circumstances, but she must have known what DU meant to him. So I'm sure that we'll hear, but it's still a shock, and he's just irreplaceable on DU and I feel so terrible for his wonderful mother.;(

What's being said is that he left this world doing what he loved to do, on his computer(s). It's still a tragedy, but, at least, he was happy in his last time on earth.;(

4. RIP amigo
he was truly one of the good guys, a prolific poster and got LBN pretty much where it is today.

Maybe the first guy at DU I interacted with back in 01.

His passing diminishes us all, and the world is a little better in the path he trod, and a little lesser in his absence.

RIP big man.
