I'm high on pain pills, don't have to work tomorrow, and feel like buying
something on QVC or HSN. LOL!! Either make a suggestion for a purchase or tell me how evil consumerism is.

I really want a rotisserie! Really really really bad. Oh, and a gas grill. Really bad.

I never buy new clothes for myself (spend most extra $$ on my kid) but since I am losing weight, am wanting some new duds. My jeans now have a potato pouch in the back!

Anyway, I am extremely bored. What's everyone doing tonight?

(BTW, the Lortabs are for my knee--my wounds busted open this weekend after the doc took my stitches out, so I am on Keflex and Lortabs. However, I must add that if I were not on Lortabs, I would be drinking a magnum of muscadine wine from Old South winery tonight.)

So what's up DU??

1. Change the damn channel!
What do you need a rotisserie for anyway. How about investing in Time-Life's The Folk Years instead? 120 songs--over eight hours of music--for less than $25 a month!

2. Oooooo---now that's a good suggestion!
I need a rotisserie so that I can have a little diversity to my meal choices. I am doing Atkins, and my menu gets boring. And I LOVE rotisserie chicken. Yummy!

But I like the Time collection suggestion. I bought the whole collection of classical music for kids that they do, and my son adores it. And I do too...I often steal the CDs for my commute.

What's up BurtWorm??? (One of my favorite DUers! :loveya: )

6. Mmmmm....rotisserie chicken....
You know though, jchild, I thought I read at the Guardian the other day that Atkins' diet didn't do well in a study in Britain. Something about how the types of nutrients Atkins excludes are essential for some cellular functions, and depriving yourself of them is dangerous.

Now I went to the Guardian and sure enough, here's the link:

Take it with a grain of salt. (Or is that disallowed?)

11. I will read that...
I will go there in a sec...but I must say that I feel more energetic, healthier than I have felt in 15 years. After reading Fast Food Nation, I cut out all forms of fast food, and am now eating what I call whole foods. I don't eat ground beef, but will eat pork loin and chicken breasts, etc. I eat all kinds of veggies, except for potatoes. And I cheat and drink a huge glass of OJ in the morning.

I am also taking a great multivitamin daily. I am now in the part of the diet where I can add carbs back slowly. I changed the whole way I eat, though, hopefully for the long haul.

I also gave up soft drinks--now I drink water, unsweetened tea, and an occasional diet drink (Diet Sunkists are great!)

I am still losing a little weight, but most of what I lost was attributable to quitting sugar laden soft drinks. I was drinking at least 6 one-litre bottles of Mountain Dew each day!

I appreciate the link to the article...am going to read it now. Thanks!

and you're one of my favorite posters, too.

7. How are you doing now, Rene?
Hope you are feeling better. My heart was with you during your recuperation. I am very sorry for what you went through.

:loveya: and hope you are feeling better.

BTW, did you ever get over that itchiness? Did you ever find out what caused it? The carpet in the hallway?

9. I ended up going to the emergency room.
We're not sure what caused it. I need to see an allergist. But it went away in a few days. I was taking steroids, and that sucked.

Now I'm back at work part time and walking with a cane! I'm still hoping to be able to dance by October 3rd.

:hi:

12. OMG! Steroids are EVIL!
I had to take them for a skin reaction I had...a couple of months ago...I posted on DU because I felt horrible and everyone gave me some very good advice.

Anytime I get a perscription filled now, my son asks, "Is it that mean medicine, mom?" I was a MONSTER on steroids. I couldn't sleep and turned into an ogre--bit off anyone's head with whom I came in contact. Awful! Did you have any probs on steroids?

Do you have a regular cane or a fancy smancy cane? I have a wooden cane that belonged to my uncle when he was living. It is special to me. I still use it for a trademark. When you walk in to a class to lecture with a big wooden cane in your hand on the first day, students give you NO shit. LOL!

13. The steroids made me depressed.
I spent 3 days in the smae clothes, didn't shower, and I ate about 600,000 doritos.

I am going to get a fancy cane, but right now I have one that belongs to someone from work.

:)

15. They have some glass ones one ebay that are awesome...
but I am such a clutz that a glass cane would last me about one tap on the floor.

Look at this one:

4. Don't purchase anything, find a good movie and
when you're able go buy a new outfit, perfume and lipstick. New perfume and lipstick always makes me feel better. I know it's superficial but it works for me.

10. Sister, thanks for the suggestion...
but I couldn't find anything good to watch--that's one reason I am bored.

I saw "About Schmidt" last night, and LOVED it. I laughed, I cried, and I taped it for a friend. Wish something of that calibre were on tonight!

I don't wear much makeup, and hardly ever perfume, but since I have gotten back down to my fighting weight, it just might be time to hit the make-up counter at the mall. (Can't buy cheap stuff because of sensitive skin, and THAT sucks!)

5. Buy a potato!
it will fit right in your potato pouch, and you won't need new jeans!

8. LMFAO!!!!
Can't have potatoes--the Adkins thing, you know, and if I had one, I would cut it up, fry it, and grow back into my jeans. LOL!
