Poll question: GREATEST GODZILLA MOVIE POLL
My favorite of all the science fiction movies starring a man in a giant green lizard suit.

Which is your particular brand of kitch fun?

1. D.A.M. by a country mile!
Edited on Tue Nov-30-04 09:12 PM by Lautremont
But that all-Japanese original version of the first one is pretty atmospheric.

5. Not so!
Combining the giant monster with Jurrassic Park level effects was awesome!

(Even with the Sargent acting as 2nd in command of the entire army in New York...)

14. That is blasphemy
That was not Godzilla but a overgrown iguana. ;) Actually I was recently watching some of the newer Godzilla films from Japan. I think the were made in the past four or five years. In one scene there is a couple Japanese officers talking about the creature that attacked America and how the Japanese experts claim that the Americans are wrong and it wasn't Godzilla.

10. oooo...good question for me!
I'm torn between the original Japanese version of Godzilla ('54),Godzilla vs Destroyah ('96) or Godzilla,Mothra,King Ghidora-All Out Monsters Attack! (2001).

But of course,I love them all....except Godzilla vs Megalon :)

15. Godzilla vs Megalon
That movie brings back some distant memories. I remember as a kid sitting home one night and watching it on one of the networks ABC, NBC or CBS, I forget and they broke into the movie to announce that the American Embassy in Tehran had been stormed and all the personnel were being held hostage. That really dates me doesn't it?

19. When I was a kid
And lived in Jersey their used to be this channel, I can't remember if it was out of NY or Philly but they used to run a 4:30 in the afternoons and they used to have different weeks of movies. It was the first place I ever saw Godzilla movies, Sergio Leone westerns and Bruce Lee films.

12. What about Godzilla vs King Ghidora
Godzilla, Mothra, and Rodan in the fight of their lives against the three headed monster Ghidora.

That's some classy shit.

16. My Favorites
The all time favorite has to be the original. (BTW A little Godzilla trivia for you. Watch the original again and keep an eye on Raymond Burr. He never interacts with anyone except the one Japanese officer. That is because he isn't in the Japanese version. All his footage was added before it was released in America because they wanted at least one white guy in the film.) For sheer campiness the best have to be Godzilla VS The Smog Monster and Godzilla VS King Kong.

17. I have a special fondness for "Godzilla vs the Smog Monster"
Or as one site puts it: "The closest that Godzilla got to being an "art film".

18. By the way
Has anyone else ever seen some of the other Japanese monster movies with Gamera, Rodan, Mothra or even Frankenstein? Or if you really want to go deep in the genre how about the Brit eqivalent "Gorgo" or even the Danish version "Reptilicus" (monster is a hand puppet int that one).

20. Mothra is excellent and Rodan is very good......
....and the Gamera movies, which started off as a cheap
Godzilla imitation, actually were a lot of fun. A jet propelled flying turtle..... way too cool!
