My wife is a perfect example of why ** will get a way with his rotten agenda, corporate america will bleed democracy dry, and the media will not change.

• she voted for Kerry . . . but now questions his campaign and wonders who might have done better

• watches CNN . . . believes every word

• wants to fight corporate greed . . . won't cut up her GAP, Macy's, Dillard's cards

• believes too much TV is bad . . . addicted to reality TV

• wants to cut back on spending . . . addicted to HGTV and TLC, wants to spend every dime we make at Home Depot / Lowe's

• agrees there is an energy problem . . . won't sell her Ford Expedition

• says ** is superficial, fake . . . wants lipo now

Whew . . . we have our issues. . .but I do love her dearly

At least she is half way there. I hope more people will begin to "see the light" and that it doesn't take a big disaster before people realize what we have made here. Consumerism is not as good as it looks on the surface. ANd it is easy to turn on the tv and take in all they say without thinking about it.

Has she ever read "a peoples history of the united states"? Maybe if she can see that we have been on this road before and it didn't work out so great she will see she needs to get completely off the highway.

I am lucky myself, in that I agree with my wife on most things, and there is little gap between word and deed.

Having Germany on my mind lately, I wonder how many citizens in '43, for instance, were still waiting for some sign that things had gone wrong enough, as the smokestacks billowed outside the cities and they brushed the ashes of their former neighbors from their shoulders.
