So I've stopped watching Saturday Night Live
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 04:09 AM by Quetzal
I don't even laugh when I watch it. I'm watching Mad TV for the first time and so far, I'm enjoying it more than SNL.

Besides, they had some cute guys in one of the scenes :P

1. Ugh. Mad TV
SNL isn't great right now but it's 100 times better than the dreck on Mad TV

Tonight's SNL was a little thin, but they did have a couple of big scores.

1. The press conference with Bush and Blair.
It was an incredibly sharp political statement that still managed to be quite funny.

2. The Adventures of Peter O'Toole and Michael Caine.
I thought this sketch was one of the best of the season so far. They stumble into a KFC/Taco Bell express and in a confused drunken stupor think that they are hosting a talk show.

I also liked Bear City.

2. I stopped watching SNL
at the end of the 70s, after the original cast quit. I've just never found it funny since then. I'm quite the old fogey aren't I.

6. You can't see what's funny if you don't watch, my friend...
They've had some great cast members and good years since the 70s. They're in a dry spell right now since the exceptional cast members, Will Ferrell, Cheri Oteri, Chris Kattan, and Molly Shannon left. Other great years included when they had, Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, Jon Lovitz, Mike Myers, Nora (last name escapes me), and dammit that other lady's name escapes me. She went on to play in,"Designing Women" and she plays Jimminy Glick's wife, Dixie.

So, you can't judge all of what has happened with the show based upon the Joe Piscapo years or the current cast.

7. Nora Dunn & Jan Hooks
Anybody who can ignore the Phil Hartman years is nuts. That man was a comic genius.

10. Oh, I've watched it from time to time
over the years, enough to get a taste of it, during various different periods. I have even found some of it amusing, but never with the pure belly laughs that I got (and still get) from the original. I have certainly remained open minded, and if I had seen anything there that had really grabbed my attention, I would have started watching on a regular basis. I just never have.

I'm not trying to be judgemental, I just have different tastes than many people on here do.

9. A wholesale purge of the writers and the cast is the only thing that...
can help that miserably UNFUNNY show. It's just pathetic to watch nowadays. I watched the one with Queen Latifah a couple weeks back...I didn't laugh. One. Single. Time.
