Dish, Cable, or DSL?
I recently moved into a new area, and am shopping for high speed Internet Access. I plan to use either cable or Dish for TV, and would like to combine I-Net access.

I have used DSL in the past, and was satisfied with the performance over the phone line, but would like to avoid installing a land phone line to my new apartment.

Do you use a Cable Access ot Dish?
satisfied?

Thanks,
Bob
Minnesota

2. I use cable, perfectly satisfied with it.
My brother used to have dish. He switched to cable some time back. Too much downtime and every time the wind blew he would lose his tv & internet.

3. It depends on your needs, but....
If you're not gaming, than probably any of those choices would be fine. As a gamer, DSL is my first choice because it is easier to garuntee low latency (i.e. lag). Cable is one of those variable things for gamers - some places, the latency is low and its very good. Other places, the latency is really bad. I've never personally had satellite, but fellow gamers have cautioned me against it because latency can be high.

Lots of people use cable fine. DSL works fantastic for me but I already have a land phone line that I use so...

4. I am still stuck on dial-up, pretty broke, but I would endorse Dish just
for the fact that it's the only place one can get Free Speech TV (channel 9415) it's worth it for that alone.

7. Sorry I dumped Warner Cable
I hate their politics and they charge about 20.00 more than basic dsl. I recently changed to SBC DSL and I have not had a problem, the download speed is a bit slower, but if I spend another 10.00 I can make it equal the cable, plus there is no loss of Bandwidth with more computers in the house, or in the neighborhood. I hate the cable nazi's.

8. I'm very happy with cable
When you click on something the next page pops up almost instantly. That includes pictures. Downloading is blazing fast.

10. Mediacom cable sucks....
They put too many people on our subnet, cable signal continually drops us out or slows to a crawl in the hours from 6-10 at night. They refuse to acknowledge the problem. Their customer service is a joke...Have had them out here several times (they always come during the middle of the day when things work - and then claim everything is hunky-dory) and their prices here aren't any better here than Dish or DSL.

I'm thru taking off work just to hold the door open for them to come and do nothing about the problem.

I have given up on them ever making any serious attempt to improve things and am seriously looking at getting DSL for internet and Dish for TV...could care less if TV drops out occasionally - really want 100% up time and consistent bandwidth on the Internet connection.
