I never thought I'd spend Saturday nights in bed....with a good book.

When I was younger (my 20's and 30's) the idea of staying home, curled up in bed with a good book, was idiotic and laughable. It was all about going out. And now...in middle age...I actually enjoy staying home. Particularly on a chilly night like this.

4. "The Line of Beauty" by Alan Hollinghurst.

Alan Hollinghurst is a gay British novelist whom I've grown quite fond of over the years. A very literate author...gorgeous writing. I'm enjoying it immensely. :)

Thank God we don't. In 1988, I was out at gay clubs until 2am regularly. I would have laughed at anyone who wanted to stay home on Saturday night.

In 1989, I met my other half. Now the very idea of driving 25 miles to a gay bar, even though he's away for the weekend and I'm lonely, seems ludicrous...What could I find that would compare to what I already have.

Love is a very transforming emotion.
