I went through this pain stuff when I broke both ankles in a head on collision. I forgot how bad bones could hurt. The surgery will be minor thankfully and hopefully I'll only be out of work a few days. We'll see.

I prefer reds above all... dry ones like Cabernets, Merlots, and Syrahs. Learned to appreciate a good Pinot Noir - Oregon makes the best of that varietal, and they are readily available at least here in the western half of the continent.

Favorite whites include Gewürtztraminers and Semillons.

Good but inexpensive wines. I'll be honest - I'll drink just about anything, but prefer the reds - any kind.

I've got a bottle of Mondavi Resereve '98 hiding in the kitchen. Good stuff when I had it before but too pricey really. Have you ever had Opus I? I thought it was nasty.. way too expensive. But what do I know? I grew up on Spanada and Boone's Farm. ahahah

When I was in Seattle, I lived a MILE from a Trader Joe's, but here in AZ, the closest is in Phoenix, which is 150 miles south. I think what I'll do when I head down to Peoria for Cactus League ball next spring, is bring my cooler, and head to Trader Joe's for a shopping trip. I love their cheeses, the international variety is damn good.
