DU Women: Need your advice re: Perfume (Jessica McClintock)
A coworker I have here was wearing this stuff, and I liked the smell - so I thought about buying some for the wife.

However, I know with some perfumes there is a whole image implied with it - what is the image implied with this stuff? Is it considered good, or is it considered low end?

2. It's my favorite perfume
Jessica McClintock is a women's dress designer, mostly known for formal dresses. Her clothes and perfume are sold in department stores.

Image? I don't pay much attention to any of that - it's all marketing. I never see Jessica McClintock advertised anywhere. I'd say her image is "quiet elegance."

The scent is lily of the valley with tones of herbs, especially basil, and citrus notes. It's a light scent that is appropriate everywhere.

4. I don't know about any classist stigma that may be attached to it...
but I used to wear it, and liked it.

5. The image is that it's fairly pricey perfume.
It gives me a headache--too floral. That said, I know lots of women who wear it.

It's definitely not low-end, fret not.

6. I would certainly want to test it on my skin before buying
Perfumes smell different depending on your chemistry. The purchase of perfume is a highly individual thing. I would suggest that your wife test it out in the department store first, and if it smells good on her, get it.

7. it's lower end, but if you like the smell, who cares?
it's not very expensive for a perfume (probably in the 20 dollar range).

9. As a former perfume junkie
I can say giving your wife perfume is like giving her a toxic waste dump to absorb into her skin, which may make her sick in the long run. If you love her, do a honey-do chore for her instead.
