Sign taken while I was engrossed in DU'ing
Damn, the dog was barking and I heard voices and at the window couldn't see anything. Then I thought I saw someone standing by one of our cars parked out front. I rushed around the house looking for shoes, a belt, and took off squealing out of the driveway. (actually it was the car tires that did the squealing)

My Kerry/Edwards sign was gone and I rode on down the road to find that some of my neighbor's K/E signs were also highly conspicuous by their absence. Of course the Bush/Cheney signs were all still up.

I'll get some more and pick up some for the neighbors too. I will certainly take added precautions this next time, though. Bring em, er, forget it. I won't even quote that nutcase!

1. I wonder if it would be illegal to start firing a blank pistol...
...outside the window if you know people are in your yard doing this. Anyone know this pretty much for sure?

3. Yes but calling the cops is a good idea
as soon as you have a good ID.

2. I put my sign up in the window
I don't think I'll have to worry about it being stolen, but I am fearful that a rock will get thrown through the window.

4. Jerks
Enough of this crap already!
If you put up another one, maybe you should hook up one of those small cameras so you can find out who it was.

5. We've had a lot of it here...
in Michigan too. Maybe half the people that came in on friday for a sign, said,"they stole our other one" I hear it at least a few times a day when i'm in the Kerry office. Also, the police can't do ANYTHING if you don't tell them. If they get enough complaints maybe they will do something, who knows?

6. Ok. You are politcally active, with lawn signs and such. Do it right.
Run some electrical wire from your breaker box to your lawn sign spot. Since you are politically active, and presumably will be so for life, its a good investment of time and energy. Make sure your family knows to respect the sign, i.e., DONT TOUCH IT.

Dig a trench, run the wire through conduit, have contacts buried in the ground to which you embed the metallic sign legs in.

Your sign won't move. But you will probably hafta explain yourself in court.

The good thing is, no goddamn republican could defend this tactic.

The alternative is to sit on your front porch, with a shotgun, guzzling beer and bitching about the right-wing, with Mike Malloy streaming.

7. string some fishing line and some cans together..
and hook em up to your new sign. If it doesn't alert you, maybe it will scare them. It's also helpful to keep a bushel of baseballs handy. Aim for the ribs.
