Be careful with your JPEGs...another Microsoft security flaw
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6003852/

REDMOND, Wash. - Microsoft Corp. announced Tuesday it has found a new security flaw with its Windows XP operating system and warned that an attacker could infiltrate other computers by persuading their owners to open a specialized graphics file.

The company released a patch (http://www.microsoft.com/security/default.mspx) to fix the flaw as well as a tool that allows users to scan their systems to see if they need it. Users who have already downloaded Microsoft's recent security update, Service Pack 2, are not affected.

The vulnerability affects people running Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, later versions of Office. People who have earlier versions of Windows or Office may also be affected if they are running some specialized applications, such as Digital Image Pro and Visio 2002.

The flaw is in a technology that is used to render images in the popular JPEG format. It can be exploited only if the user is tricked into opening a specialized file or viewing a specially crafted JPEG image, Microsoft said.

Winblow$=games.

Mac=waiting 6 months for a Mac version of said games to come out, if you even get that lucky.

*sigh* I'm kinda trapped here.

7. Yeah but with a Mac, I cant wonder what it would be like in WWII
So while a Mac may have its advantages, I still would prefer to play Call of Duty, MOHAA, etc than have few game choices.

4. I don't open attachments of any type from people I don't know, or that
I'm not expecting. Period. So I don't get viruses that way.

I download plug-ins or whatnot periodically, but not often, and I'm careful of the source.

9. That is why I hope the majority of you will continue
to use Windows so that people like me continue to have the peace we have enjoyed for 20 years starting from my humble Apple IIC to my present super duper eMac!! And when I can afford it I will move to the G5.

(And I continue to use all the Macs that I have had in between - and none of them has had to be retired.)

Vive le Windows.
