Why do you think Lucas made Star Wars more politically correct?
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 08:35 AM by Lovecrafty
If you'll notice in the "New" Star Wars cantina scene with Han Solo and Greedo, when Solo kills Greedo from under the table, Lucas added a shot from Greedo to make it look more like Solo acted in self defense. Any explaination WHY this was added?

2. Doubt that..it's simply added to the existing footage!
He simply added a laser blast from Greedo's gun that was not there in the original, no additional scene was required...

4. Spielberg did that too, with ET
I haven't actually seen the DVD version, so this is all heresay, so I may be off slightly --

For the DVD release, he edited "you look like a terrorist in that outfit" to "you look like a hippie" (which I guess I can understand -- it was released in late 2001 or 2002).

But he also edited out the guns of the feds chasing down ET, supposedly at the request of goddaughter Drew Barrymore, which doesn't make sense -- feds carry guns.

5. His excuse-
He didn't like the fact that one of the film's heroes committed a cold-blooded killing. The problem I have with that excuse is that Solo was not a hero at that point in the story. I thought it was garbage giving Greedo the first shot.

6. I understand the Greedo shot, but why did he add Kerry playing the guitar?
Seems like a shameless political ploy. ;-)

8. Maybe he was trying to be more "pure"...
and ended up being a sissy. I really don't like movies when somebody is completely good (as Lucas is trying to do with his heroes) or completely bad just because (like the blond little dude from Harry Potter). I understand that's fantasy, but even like that, it's not my type of thing.

After seeing the Episode II of Star Wars I was extremely disappointed to see future Dart Vader getting married to Amidala. I know kids watch the movie so Lucas can't do that without getting a PG-13 or more, but I think would be a lot more convincing if Amidala refused to have an affair with Anakin. Then he would not be able to control his "evil side" and would rape her - that's the way she got pregnant and that's why she had to hide. After raping her he would finally realize he's not pure as a Jeddy should be and would turn into a Sith.

(Sigh...) And that's why I don't make millions of dollars like Lucas...

But anyway, since he's changing things, shouldn't he change that scene where Leah kisses Luke? They are siblings, and that's just gross!!!!!!
