Does anyone know anything about rose bushes?
I have a rose bush that's about five years old. Last winter we trimmed it back, & this spring it really took off nicely, the best it's ever done. About three weeks ago, I noticed a few of the leaves were starting to be chewed off--this has happened before--& I sprayed it with some pesticide that we've used before that has worked well. I noticed no more chewed-up leaves. About two weeks ago, quite a few of the leaves started to curl up; they look like they've dried up, but they're still green, & they're not "crunchy", if you know what I mean. I'd been keeping it watered as much as I ever did. Plus, it has no buds on it, which I'm sure it's supposed to have by this time. Does anyone know what's wrong with it?

1. Well, one thing
if they turn black and start to fall off, you've got a soil disease. I use an all-around rose food, pesticide and soil treatment stuff and it works pretty well. It comes in pellets and you sprinkle it around the roses. Roses are finicky like that.

Somebody may have an organic solution, I'm too lazy for that.

2. mmmmmmmm
I recognize rose bushes 9 out of 10 times when they have blloms on them. (you said "know anything...")

My brother-in-law trims their rose bushes back to about 6 inches every fall. My Mom never did that. The bushes have really pointy thorns.

My sum total knowledge of rose bushes has just been dispensed.

sorry I wasn't helpful at all, but if you at least smiled, it was a small gift of pleasure. :hi:

3. Have you had any really hard rains recently?
We had a wicked hard rainstorm a few weeks ago, and that's what the leaves of my pepper plants looked like a few days afterwards. They still look like that, but are growing and sprouting peppers.

4. What's the weather been like where you live?
Roses are susceptible to several different types of leaf mould and mildew. It sounds, without further description, as though it could be silvery mildew. There are products available to help battle the mildew.

If you have pets or small children you'll need to take some precautions.

5. sounds like critter infestation
My buddleia had this--curled, but green leaves that a nursery expert said was some sort of bug infestation. he gave us some very expensive poison in a blue bottle (but a "dose" lasts a year) to use on the plants and that got rid of it. I don't think mold causes malformation or curling of the leaves--though if not nesting bugs--viruses do. Viruses in plants seem pretty incurable. One thing you could do is fertilize, that'll strengthen and prepare the plant to deal with whatever ails it.
