Poll question: What do you wish should be done to a virus or spyware maker ?
Edited on Sat Aug-28-04 10:44 AM by jeff30997
Minutes ago i was victim of a vicious spyware infection(OK,victim is to strong of a word but...).In each and every threads/posts that i went to, there was words in blue and underlined(hyperlinks) and if you clicked on them it opened a damn web page that had nothing to do with anything said in the thread.

Everybody was saying "What the hell are you talking about?".

Damn ! I felt like a character from a bad episode of the Twilight zone. You know, the guy who screams: the aliens are among us and nobody believe him ?

Anyway, what do you wish should be done to a virus or spyware maker ?

1. Inject them with a random virus and send them on their way

3. I like the virus thingie. hadn't thought of that
But, instead, I'd but them in a totally computer controlled, contained room, with one windows machine providing all life support. Air, heat, water, food, everything. No fire walls, no security programs, no Utilities on the machine. Just a fulltime broadband connection and a robot opening every attachment for each piece of mail that comes in.

if the computer crashes, their air supply ends.

16. TERRIBLE Ben Affleck/J-Lo stinker
This was towards the end of the "Bennifer" crap. It was like the worst movie made last year, it even swept the Razzie awards.

Put it in a double feature with Mariah Carey's "Glitter" and I think we have a suitable warm-up punishment for the bastards that make spyware.

12. virus maker
There should be a way to disable the virus makers ability to use the net for a period of time, depending on how much damage was done, this aside from repaying all damages that can be detected.

13. Sending out spyware and adware should be illegal.
I don't subscribe too much to the "liberal lie" explained in a previous thread by Rabrrrrr, but I think it would be a great deterrent to the bastard corporatiions who sent out shit to people's computers. Fine a company all the money they have if they do it, and send the top perpetrators to jail, that's what I say.

I just got rid of a whole bunch of shit on my computer last night, so I'm kind of pissed at these people too.

Imagine $millions$ disappearing from Scaife, BFEE, etc. and showing up in the accounts of various charities.

Robin Cyberhood.
(from a short story idea Ms. Calico and I have kicked around)

Ugh you don't know what I've gone through with spyware on my mom's PC. She had an unfortunate tendency to download anything and everything until I educated her about this stuff. She downloaded that Bonzi Buddy crap and it took me forever to get rid of it, it just would not go away.

We managed to get ourselves a dialer program once...THAT was fun. :eyes: Luckily I squashed it before my mom got hit with any charges.

The worst has to be that "Cool Web Search"...that is by far the most obnoxious spyware ever made. I had to use a program called CWS to get rid of it.

Don't want spyware? Mozilla Firefox + Spybot + Ad-Aware and Spyware Blaster for good measure. It might sound like overkill but you can never have to much protection, and I haven't had spyware since I went with this setup.
