Post more of your nerd stories here (on the vein of http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x1556470, only not with a star as prize--I barely had the money for my own star). Anyways, I'll start:


In my case, I don't have one story. Basically the "nerd story" is the story of my life.

I went to school at a small high school in Idaho. When I graduated, I graduated in the top 16% of the school (of about 210 graduates) with the highest grades in all of the classes I was taking (including physics, chemistry, and Algebra). The last year I attended school, I took a computer repair course that also took us through computer programming. Out of the class of fifteen computer people I was the only one with aptitude for that part of it.

In the time I spent in school, I never once attended a dance--no prom for me. I never dated a girl--though that is explanable now--and I did have a few throw themselves at me.

I spent the last three years of high school in a choir class that won tied with another group for first place Gold in competition (which is interesting only because most of the other men in the class I've since discovered were gay as well).

Right now I'm currently working my way through college and I own a big ass calculator (worth $150), three different computers, I work with machines here at the physics department, I haven't been laid in two years, I wear big ass plastic framed glasses, a pocket protector, the whole works.
