9. 4 white castle cheeseburgers and two pork steaks
The steaks are about to go bad, so may as well eat them. Knowing my mystery illness has returned, the food won't be in me for too long... :+

10. Whole wheat penne pasta
smothered with a chunky vegetable sauce I made from vegetables and herbs I grew in my garden -- plum tomatoes, zucchini (yellow and green), bell peppers, sweet yellow peppers and eggplant accented with fresh basil and oregano. I cheated and threw in onions and garlic that I bought. Mmm...

14. You better hurry because it's almost all gone
I guess I could always wander into my garden, pick some more fresh vegetables and whip up another batch.

Jealous yet? :D

13. You are going to think I'm nuts
but I'm in the middle of making homemade croissants. It's a 4 hour process and I'm only on the first fold and chill (of 4). No idea what I'm going to use em for. Maybe a BLT with freshly picked t'maters?

Speaking of bacon, has anyone else noticed that bacon is criminally priced now? I rarely buy it and just noticed today that it's $5.50 per slab. Didn't it used to cost about $3.00? Is there a pig shortage or something?

out of my front yard pumpkin patch (haven't mowed the lawn all summer), Malabar spinach with garlic and lime juice, wilted in olive oil (spinach out of my back yard) and pork chops out of the Food World grocery store. So good. Then a mango with cottage cheese and flax seed oil for dessert. Yummmmm.

22. I used to love dorm food
My last two years they built a new cafeteria, an all-you-can-eat buffet style mess hall. It was open almost all day which was a huge bonus. The food wasn't spectacular, but I still miss it.

23. That's probably how I'll feel
when I graduate. :( Tonight, however, there was so-so "Cajun" fried fish (Gerber oatmeal is spicier) and broccoli decorated with a few brown spots.

27. mmmmmm croissants
My mouth is watering for good croissants.

Here, we had pork chops and spaghetti, a recipe from the old Mama Leone's restaurant in NYC. Olive oil, butter, rosemary and garlic saute in the pan, then brown pork chops in it. Add a big can of plum tomatoes and handful of parsley and simmer until tender. Cook pasta. Toss drained pasta with some of the pan juice, more butter, and grated good parmesan cheese. Platter it with pasta on bottom, pork chops on top, and remaining juices poured over.

Serve with good bread and a green salad.

Fresh blackberry dumplings for dessert here.
