2. www.smart.com
They are currently available in the UK but I think they are coming to the US in 2005 or 2006.
They retail for about #6500 and up.
I saw these in Italy and London this summer.
Fantastic!

4. Frankly: they suck

They cost about €8000 - €20000, depending on the model.

The major advantage is finding a parking space: they can be parked front to the sidewalk, even in parallel parking zones.

In any other regard I can't stand them: they do not handle well on the Autobahn; in city traffic they do an annoying jerking motion, while turning. Compared to other micro-cars they have a poor mileage, just barely inside the 3 liter tax bracket. This is largely because they had designed the look first and figured later what technology to put in there; function follows form if you will.

6. Mmm, that's too bad
Because the form is oh so cool. Too bad they don't drive well; kind of a small drawback in a car!:hi:

7. Maybe they will be improved..
by the time they go on sale in the U.S.

Sad to say, looks are probably more important in our market, though.

5. I believe they're not legal in the US?
I remember reading about how their wheel base is not large enough to meet U.S. standards. Perhaps they will come out with (or already have come out with?) a U.S. version. How 'bout a hybrid, instead?
