Weirdest Politician Ever?
Clearly the Canadian nomination is William Lyon Mackenzie King, PM from 1921-1925, 1926-1930, 1935-1948. In public life the most dull of men, a politician so slippery that during the conscription debate of 1942 he coined the phrase that defines the ultimate political equivocation 'not necessarily conscription, but conscription if necessary', King led a bizarre double life.
Obsessed with his mother to the exclusion of almost any other human being, King sought out prostitutes on a regular basis, ostensibly to 'save' them. After the death of his mother, King turned to spiritualism in order to consult her for political advice. This would later expand as King would also seek advice from Leonardo da Vinci, Louis Pasteur and his beloved dog Pat.
Perhaps as an adjunct to this, King began to construct medieval ruins from left-over building materials around his home, Kingsmere. No-one is entirely sure why. William Lyon Mackenzie King, a true eccentric.

Who are your nominations for weirdest politician ever?
