I moved from Long Beach, CA, to rural Southern Maryland almost four years ago. P-lenty of gunfire in Long Beach of a Friday or Saturday night -- plenty of copper copters, too, with bright lights shining in the back door.

It took me almost a year to realize that the gunfire I kept hearing on Sunday mornings was from a nearby firing range. Good thing I never called the cops -- oops, the county sheriff.
