Christ on Crutches! Shopping for "back to school" today...
Is it just me or is EVERYTHING higher priced this year?

Glad I only have one child. If I had two, I would have had to mortgage my soul.

:grr:

1. Do you have to buy text books?
It would be less expensive to "get a few things" at the Antiquarian Book Fair in Manhattan.

2. Not text books, but workbooks, and that fee will be astronomical...
will pay it tomorrow when he starts his first day.

4. Paid cash for most of it...
Stopped in at an Academy (sports store) to buy clothes for my son. NOTHING was on sale.

And school supplies. OMG you wouldn't believe the list of stuff he has to have. Almost $200.00 just for supplies.

Again, glad I only have one child. I saw a woman with four children in Academy--trying on clothes on her brood. She must spend thousands at the beginning of each school year. :wow:

5. 14th Year of private school coming up
Hair gray, crow's feet, a Saturn in the garage, college in 2005. But looking back, I wouldn't have done it any other way.

7. This is public school...
Mississippi. The only private schools in my area were ones that began after desegregation. They are "Christian" schools--but in reality, white schools.

9. So this is a deal where you have to buy the clothes
from a certain place that conveniently doesn't discount during back to school, and it's the only place with the school monogram on the shirts? You really ought to mount a huge protest and stink.

10. No, nothing like that.
His school doesn't have a stringent dress code. I hadn't bought him any summer clothes through the summer--but he has had a growth spurt over the summer, so I had to go buy some summer clothes for him to start school in. (Mississippi stays HOT until Thanksgiving.)

Summer sales at all the department stores means that there wasn't much left to buy. Plus, he's hard to fit, so I buy what fits him when I find it.

His school hasn't gone to uniforms. All others around here have, though. I don't know how I feel about uniforms. (seems like it would be a hell of a lot cheaper--but there's also that individual expression thing.)
