My beloved glass pot (Pyrex) cracked and i need to replace it. I'm partial to glass or iron. Anyone?

2. My favorite is Calphalon
They have great pots, pans, skillets, casserole pans, stock pots, etc. They're expensive, but they last forever.

3. Le creuset

is enamel-coated iron made in France. I'm saving up for some.

I was watching America's Test Kitchen yesterday and they recommended the basic Calphalon set which is heavy, non-stick aluminum.

7. Can you third something?
I love our Le Creuset I also have calphalon. I like the Le Creuset better - it seems to be more even heat and you can wash them in the dishwasher. The calphalon if you wash it in the dishwasher the black washes off.

The Le Creuset pans were my parents 25-30 years ago - still going strong.

9. I've owned most of em
I have a set of french copper. Very pretty, very hard to keep clean and the zinc wears off pretty fast. They do cook well but much like a very pretty woman, VERY high maintenence.

Calphalon is expensive and also very high maintenence. Cleaning this stuff is a real bitch! Then, the coating wears off and you just throw is away.

Dollar for dollar, I cook almost everything in well seasoned cast iron. The stuff is indestructable, if you take care of it, it can be no-stick, and you can hand it down to your grandkids. This is definitly my favorite. It won't go in your dishwasher but you will love it soooo much that you won't mind washing it by hand.
