He knows that I'm sitting on my hands up here and dying to be in Boston so he's been calling in everyday. He just checked in and it sounds a bit chaotic there and it also sounds like alot of hard work following all of the convention goings on. I can't imagine trying to follow all of this stuff and deal with the security logistics as well. He's going to the DU party tonight so I know he's got his priorities straight! He sounds like he needs to kick back and have some fun with friends. I wish I was there!
My sister is a VIP (perks of working for the Clinton/Gore 1st term WH as well as campaigning with President Gore) there. I'm SO goddamn jealous of her. I just hope that she'll get me tickets to the 2008 DNC convention.
you are working there...he said that some of it is pretty disorganized. I volunteered at the 1980 DNC and ended up with the task of running a party for Ted Kennedy. We picked a restaurant in NYC and had to get it cleared by the Secret Service. I remember meeting with them at this place while they had the bomb sniffing dogs run through the place. They have very specific rules, one of which was that no one could get into the party without the invitation in hand. Of course, I took that very seriously. In the middle of the party one of the other volunteers came up to me and said there was a fight at the door because someone whio said he was a Kennedy wanted in and didn't have the invite. I went to the door and told this kid that he couldn't come in. He turned out to be a Ted Kennedy nephew. I was only a little embarassed!
