The Movie "Starship Troopers" and Bushco. Any Similarities?
I was watching "Starship Troopers" the other night with my daughter and it struck me. A lot of how the government is using the war in the movie to rally people behind the government reminded me alot about the current Bush administration. The divisions between "citizens" and civilians who had not earned their citizenship was not unlike the current abyss between the haves and have nots.
Anyone else notice this?
I could have delved much deeper into the parrallels but I was contantly being distracted by all of the boobies. You know how it is with guys and boobies.
5. The book had a libertarian/right slant. The movie had a libertarian/left
slant. Because the movie saught to parody imperialism and turn people against it by showing a cartoonish propaganda for war-like culture and what/not. There are good things to be said about both the book and the movies politics. In regard to their visions of society with equality of the sexes and what/not. But if you look into what the filmmakers were trying to do they tried to make the fascistic quality of the mobile infantry and military somewhat obvious. And the parallels between the SS and the various branches of that military.
