10. It's a joke, son!
In jolly old England, the schoolteacher had gotten a veteran of the Battle of Britain to speak to her class... but the man was Norweigian, and his accent caused many titters among the children.

"Vell, vun day ve vus vlyink ofher Lundun, und ve vas yumped by tree fuckers... zo ve vint intu der pover dife, und den looped bach und der fuckers zo ve coult zoot zem done..."

The teacher, annoyed by the laughter, explained...
"He's talking about a Fokker, a type of German Aircraft. Aren't you, Flight Leftenant?"

"Dya" he answered. "De Fokker iz a Cherman Aircravt. But deze fuckers vere vlyink Mezzerscmidtz!"

14. Can-Opener?
The 'Hurri' was a 2nd rate fighter, true... but Can-Opener?

Unless you are refering to the P-39 Airacobra, which the Russians put in a ground support role and called 'The Can-Opener' for what the 38mm cannon could do to the top armor of German tanks.

p-38 was the designator for the c-rat can opener that came w/a case of meals. you had to see-saw it through to open a can.

i think some grunt was jerking you on your some-what exclusionary (but certainly acceptable) use of esoteric nomenclature!

24. Nope. The little folding can-opener that came with every
C-Ration pack was called a P-38. You can still occasionally see them around. Lots of Vietnam vets carry them around on their keychains. You can see whole boxes of them in surplus stores going for around 5 cents apiece.

15. DH-1?
Slow, clumsy, poor design, but at least it could fire forward without shooting it's own propelor off.

A French design that was continually developed through the Great War and used by virtually all the Allies.
