My 1st ever purchase of any music.
Too much great music to pick any one. I love it ALL!

edit: O.K. I voted for Ashes to Ashes 'cause nobody had picked it yet. From Scary Monsters I also always liked "It's no Game" and "Up the Hill Backwards".

19. I LOVE DAVID BOWIE! you left off Pressure, Fame, Fashion...
His cover of Cactus isn't bad, Bowie is one of my favorite song writers of all time.

He is one of those few people that can play amost any instrument. He is a composer in every respect of the word and his music has influenced so many. I think that he is simply brilliant. "I'm Afraid of America" which cam out in 1997 was definitely ahead of it's time and now seems prophetic. He had the forsight to invest in XM radio and it has made him the richest musician in the world. He came a long way from the English slums he was born into, I find him and his accomplishments truly inspiring.

I can not say enough good things about him, and like a fine wine he gets better with age.

Did I mention that I think that he is totally hot too? Yum, I just love that man.

...and "Jean Genie" has Mick Ronson's sublime way-cool rip-off of Jeff Beck-era Yardbirds, and...

I think I will hold out and wait for the "What are your three favorite David Bowie songs?" copycat thread...

55. A tie between "Golden Years" and "Heroes"
BTW, if you like David Bowie's stuff from the late '70s, let me recommend the movie "Christiane F," a German film about teenage heroin addicts in Berlin during that time period. The namesake of the film was a huge Bowie fan, the film uses a whole bunch of Bowie songs from that time period, and Bowie himself makes an appearance in the film in one scene.

There's one scene where Christiane and her friends run through a shopping mall while "Heroes" is playing, and another scene where they go to see David Bowie live in concert and he comes onstage and performs "Station to Station."

BTW, "Golden Years" is not in the film -- but it's still one of my fave Bowie songs.

i loved that song as a kid.....the whistling at the end was soooo cool...that and "fame" are my two favs from bowie....

Golden years, gold whop whop whop
Golden years, gold whop whop whop
Golden years, gold whop whop whop

Don’t let me hear you say life’s taking you nowhere, angel
Come get up my baby
Look at that sky, life’s begun
Nights are warm and the days are young
Come get up my baby

There’s my baby, lost that’s all
Once I’m begging you save her little soul
Golden years, gold whop whop whop
Come get up my baby

Last night they loved you, opening doors and pulling some strings, angel
Come get up my baby
In walked luck and you looked in time
Never look back, walk tall, act fine
Come get up my baby

I’ll stick with you baby for a thousand years
Nothing’s gonna touch you in these golden years, gold
Golden years, gold whop whop whop
Come get up my baby

Some of these days, and it won’t be long
Gonna drive back down where you once belonged
In the back of a dream car twenty foot long
Don’t cry my sweet, don’t break my heart
Doing all right, but you gotta get smart
Wish upon, wish upon, day upon day, I believe oh lord
I believe all the way
Come get up my baby
Run for the shadows, run for the shadows, run for the shadows in these golden years

There’s my baby, lost that’s all
Once I’m begging you save her little soul
Golden years, gold whop whop whop
Come get up my baby

Don’t let me hear you say life’s taking you nowhere, angel
Come get up my baby
Run for the shadows, run for the shadows
Run for the shadows in these golden years

I’ll stick with you baby for a thousand years
Nothing’s gonna touch you in these golden years, gold
Golden years, gold whop whop whop
Golden years, gold whop whop whop
Golden years, gold whop whop whop
