I and my wife and a friend finally saw F/911 and it was no mean feat.
My wife has recently had a hip replacement during which the the femur (top leg bone) was fractured because of complications from other surgeries. So now she has a fractured leg to heal before physio can start for the hip. She can get around on crutches and a walker, but verryy slowwwly.
But the prospect of missing F/911 at the theatres was out. We had been waiting months to see this film and we're both big MM fans. My wife told her visiting nurse that we were going to see the film and she said, "Well, OK, but don't tell anyone that I said that, you're not supposed to be out of the house!"
So, my wife made an extra effort to make herself as ambulatory as possible, learning how to climb stairs, get in and out of the car, and get out in public as often as possible. And it paid off last night. We finished dinner and made the 50-minute trip to the AMC 24 multiplex in Ottawa. The people at AMC were fantastic, getting us a wheelchair, rushing us to the front of the line and even giving us tickets at the child's price!
The theater was about 3/4 full, very comfortable seats, and the special disabled section was very convenient.
The movie was quite an eye-opener. There were not any gasps of horror as I had expected, but rather laughter. After the first few scenes in which B* was getting prepped for some address, the audience laughed and laughed. Eventually, almost anytime he was on-screen, someone laughed. It was great.
My wife said that it was a bit of information overload, but we all agreed that it was MM's best work yet.
We're now encouraging ALL our conservative friends to see it.
