I am DISILLUSIONED!
I thought we needed a little alternative to the "Who's your favorite bimbo" polls, so I created one asking who the most INFLUENTIAL women are.

God, I thought this would bring on some good web searching, interesting discussion, curiosity, or SOMETHING. Instead, its sinking into oblivion after only 16 posts and six were mine!!

I thought there were some feminists around here. Jesus H Christ the "who I'd most like to fuck--female sex objects only please" polls are as lively as a dude with a lifetime Viagra scholarship.

I'm seriously bummed here.

1. I sympathize with you.
I don't know how many times I've put a lot of thought into a post, only to have it vanish without a single reply. Meanwhile, a random member of the Inner Circle (usually a younger, attractive female) can post any damned thing, and the replies number in the triple digits. Go figure.

5. I don't know who the inner circle is, or what most folks here look like!
But go ahead, contribute to my poll! You'll feel better! ( ;) )

7. Nice.
I hadn't noticed any particularly dumb or silly women hereabouts, so I'm not sure what their being attractive has to do with anything.

4. thanks swag!
put it on the poll! For some strange, inexplicable reason, I feel a real attachment to seeing a celebration of women's brains rise above the obsession with women's bootay. And if that can't happen at DU, then where are we?

6. That's the Lounge for you
For Lounge threads about women that are not based on how "hot" or "fuckable" they are, I've noticed it helps to focus your lens a little and pick a topic that will grab interest away from the Matcom's Ass threads. ;-)

One thread I started awhile back in response to all the "best guitarist", etc. threads (that always were filled with male artists and with few females) was called something like "Best Female Rock Musician". In the text of the thread, I stated that I was tired of reading about the same tired old male rock stars and wanted to hear some respect given to the women of rock and roll. That thread ended up with over 150 posts.

If you're looking for real discussion regarding influential women, you could try posting in the civil rights/equality forum. It moves a little slower, but you might get more of the intellectual discourse you are looking for. :-)

8. Well, that's heartening to see your Female Guitarist thread did so well!!!

Victory!
I sort of would like to see my poll do well in the Lounge specifically, because I want to not preach to the choir, but educate some previous non-members. Or something like that!

I wish I had seen that thread of yours, because I am pretty uneducated on female guitarists (It always seemed to me that the women gravitated to folk and soft rock, which are not my preference.)

Recently I heard a tiny clip from a woman named Leni Stern, and it sounded like she kicked assss with a Stratocaster.

on edit: LOL at "the Matcom's ass threads"
