RetroFuture
http://www.retrofuture.com/

The Retrofuture is a concept based on a simple question: what happened to all that futuristic stuff which was supposed to change our lives by the year 2000? Stuff like rocket belts, flying cars, food pills and inflatable homes.

for example . . . Harley Earl's Firebird III Dream Car . . .

With seven aerodynamic fins and a double-canopy cockpit, the Firebird III was 1958's "car of the future." Over four decades later, the car'sconceptual underpinnings are still radically ahead-of-their-time.

The Firebird III was chock full of space-age innovations: special drag brakes which emerged from flat panels to slow the car at high speeds, an "ultra-sonic" key which signaled the body panel (i.e., the doors) to swing open, an automated guidance system to avoid accidents and "no hold" steering.

- more . . .

2. Man, this is the LEAST of my problems with the future...
I'm more concerned about the end of civilized society, end of democracy, depletion of resources, destruction of the environment and breathable air and clean water...

The sad thing is we're more likely to get a freakin' space car at the expense of all those other little things.

4. Observation on that ugly Lexus...

This is the car Tom Cruise drove in that dumb movie 'minority report'. Looks like the computer generated vehicle in Tron, big deal.
