Did Larry King actually just say,
"There was a racial component to it, wasn't there? Many of the victims were Asian or Ne... or black."

1. Well, in fairness...
Back in the 30s, when King was middle-aged, that was an acceptable term. :D

3. I still hear "colored" from mostly upper middle aged white men
not often but enough, I work for a middle to higher end custom AV retailer. They use the term when describing their salesman when they've forgotten his name. I always let the salesman know, only after they've bought.

4. OK, now that's just
hilarious, because when he said it, the first thing that came to mind was hearing my great-grandmother say that!

8. speaking as an older, but no where near as old as LK, person
it is very hard sometimes to stop using a word you grew up with... negro was easier to lose because black was hip and with it. AfricanAmerican bothers me a lot. Mainly because I have relatives who are African Americans who are white.

IMHO (as if anyone asked for it) African American should be reserved for those who emmigrate from that continent when they do not wish, or are not able, to identify the country of their origin.
