Do you get noise sensitive, too?

I've never heard any other woman mention that, but I get very noise sensitive. Also, touch sensitive--I feel like I'll crawl out of my skin if I'm brushed against.

23. Have you ever read Lawrence Sanders "The Third Deadly Sin"
I tend to read that book when the cramps are bad. In his Deadly Sins series you know who the serial killer is and their motives. The basis of the book is how the detective catches the criminal. In the Third Deadly Sin, the killer is a woman who kills every 28 days.

I so can relate to that woman!!!

That's the only one they made a movie with Frank Sinatra as Edward X Delaney. The 2nd one was the murder of a famous Artist, the 3rd one was the PMS killer and the 4th one was a therapist.

Third was the best, but only because I'm a woman and I could appreciate why she killed them!!

27. It could be worse
You might have to have an emergency hysterectomy one day. When that happens and you can't have anymore children (if you want children,,I don't know). You would welcome the cramps back.

Drink lots of water. Use a hot water bottle (ir really works) and you can also massage your uterus which helps pass the clots(which are what is causing your cramps by forcing your cervix to dialate).

Sorry to be so medical..but I used to work in a women's clinic.

32. next time try taking ibuproferen at the start of your period
and then take it every 4 hrs. Your body is releasing too much progesterone and ibuproferen is an anti-progesterone agent. You must take the ibuproferen right at the beginning of your period...when you feel pain it is too late.

It is truly amazing how many gyns don't know how to treat this. I have suffered truly amazingly bad periods and I mean down on the bathroom floor knotted up in a ball, throwing up, running a fever. My sister was taken to the emergency room once. For a while, I could count on taking one to two days off work due to cramps.

47. I was trying to visualize the best way of describing it
and it seems you've summed it up best.

This is why men have no problem taking away all our reproductive rights. THEY HAVE NO FUCKING IDEA!!!

If men got cramps every month and knew what it was like to carry a child for nine months, they'd make sure birth control pills were 100% covered by healthcare and stop making stupid laws about a woman's right to choose.

Men have NO idea!!!

60. MEN are trying to impact your reproductive rights? ALL men???
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 03:30 PM by King Of Paperboys
You know what? I don't appreciate that.

"Men" are NOT trying to impact your reproductive rights, in any way.

There is a vocal minority of people who are trying to control ALL human activity to suit their twisted definition of "right," but these are NOT "men."

SOME men fear your ability to control your own body. A lot of WOMEN do, too. If YOU control your body, then hundreds of millions of women have to re-evaluate the choices THEY have made.

This is not a "MEN" vs. "WOMEN" issue. I love women and I respect women. To suggest that I, as a member of a group called "men," want to take away your reproductive rights, is insulting.

While I can't know the pain you're feeling, I can at least try to empathize. But "men," as a whole, are NOT trying to stand in your way. Many of us are standing at your side.

Edited for spelling.

I can only speak for myself, of course, but no. It's more of a dull ache and is not relieved by stretching out - in fact, curling up feels better. I once dated this guy who was an asshole, but I loved his heated waterbed for crampy times.

65. Different kind of pain
Leg and foot cramps (at least for me) are shorter lived, and a sharper pain. Menstrual cramps usually last a lot longer, and are a dull, nagging, persistant pain, although they can be sharp at times. I think the level of pain is about the same.

We get those, too.

These are mild versions of labor pains. Same muscles, same job...to open the cervix and expel what's in the uterus. Just not as strong, since a period is not on the same level with a whole human being.

Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 02:54 PM by stellanoir
to reduce water retention and subsequent cramps and smoking pot, those are the only things I know to be effective to reduce cramps. I've not done either in years. Now I just take the day off.

Oh wait, am remembering now that supplementing with tinctures of Black and Blue Cohosh and drinking copious cups of raspberry leaf tea did allieviate a lot of pain and suffering a decade ago. Think I'll try it again.

Hope you feel better LynneSin.
