Girl's birthday party interrupted by man with gunshot wounds
<snip>

Purple-and-pink streamers still clung to the chain-link fence in front of 45 Rosedale St. in Dorchester yesterday, where a girl's birthday party was interrupted Saturday evening when a 19-year-old man who had been shot multiple times collapsed in the street in front of her house.

Witnesses said that minutes after hearing what they thought were firecrackers, a bearded man with braided hair turned the corner of Whitfield Street onto Rosedale Street near Codman Square. When the man reached the house, he fell to the ground, clutching his stomach and asking for help.

Boston police identified the man as Joshua Richardson and said he remained in critical condition last night at Boston Medical Center, where he was treated for multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.

Mike Marshall, who lives across the street from the house where the party took place, said that most of the partygoers were outside enjoying the weather when Richardson appeared.
