The holy city of _____ ?
In the news they're always talking about "the holy city of Najaf", or some othe "holy city" somewhere in the world.

So does the US have any "holy cities"? (Besides the obvious Las Vegas, of course)

4. Well, there is Salt Lake City, which has Mormon holy sites
(I don't know enough about Mormonism to know whether the whole of SLC is considered holy.)

Unfortunately, almost none of our indigenous religions are still practiced; most Native American "holy cities" have long since been paved over. By and large, Americans practice religions that started elsewhere, centuries or millennia ago, and the holy cities are there.
