for a couple of years or so. I also suspect Colin Farrell has made a few people run up a tree.

6. It was funny on the radio this morning. They were wondering which
celebs would "care" about making the list. One of the announcer said, "Does Bob Dylan even give a crap that he got up this morning?" I was not surprised about Russel Crowe, he always had a body odorous look about him. Don't ask me why, I still think both he and Pitt are hot, extreme pheromones is all it is. ;)

3. Saw Troy over the weekend
(I liked it, though it was long.)

Up until about 100 years ago, everyone stunk all the time (or smelled like strong perfume) - there was just no way we could take baths or showers each day. Our olfactory system must have been very strong back then - we are way more sensitive now.

17. Not quite correct
Those of us of European descent, and in America, mostly stunk all the time. Probably also the mongols and desert dwellers.

But the Japanese have long been big on being clean and not smelling and cleaning up and then taking hot baths.

I've also wondered how our forebears handled the stink, but then I remember the times I've been out in the wilds for a week or so, and after a couple days I don't notice my own scent, or the scent of others. So more than likely, our forebears were the same way - you just get used to it.

And to think that not only were they not bathing much, but also wore those heavy wool clothes day after day after day. Ewwwwwwwwww.

20. By 1900, Americans were begginning to lead the world in personal hygiene
In the 20th century, American standards were raised significantly. America was one of the first countries to make indoor plumbing and flush toilets the rule rather than the exception.

The japanese might have had a longer history of higher standards, but they were overtaken by the early 1900s

Rural Chinese through most of the 20th century had personal hygiene comparable to France in the 1400s.
Read about Mao Tse-Tung's personal hygiene. It was not unusual for Rural Chinese not to use soap or brush teeth, ever, well into the 20th century.

7. Kind of a surprising list, no?
Pitt voted smelliest celebrity

2004-05-19 21:30:01 Xinhua English

BEIJING, May 20(Xinhuanet)-- If you are one of those absolutely crazy about Handsome hunk, Brad Pitt, think twice for chances are that you may not even be able to bear standing next to him.

Brad Pitt is named the smelliest

celebrity. According to agencies, the 40-year old Troy Star has earned the dubious distinction of being the world's smelliest celebrity in a poll conducted by Swedish showbiz expert Mikael Jagerbrand.

For years now several comments have been made about Pitt's inability to wash either himself or his laundry. And when his co- stars on the sets of Troy complained of his odorous ways he retorted by purchasing a new 3,600 dollar Calvin Klein shirt instead of merely taking a shower.

Russell Crowe comes a close second thanks in part to Joan Rivers' who said that she never sits next to him at award ceremonies for fear of inhaling his body odour.

The Top Ten Smelly Celebrities are as under:

1. Brad Pitt

2. Russell Crowe

3. Hayden Christensen

4. David Bowie

5. Courtney Cox

6. Robin Williams

7. Christina Aguilera

8. Cameron Diaz

9. Metallica

10. Bob Dylan

22. That was a shocker---she doesn't look dirty and smelly
neither does Cameron Diaz.

I did some reasearch and found that David Arquette says he loves Courtney's BO---that she smells like a 'truck driver' when she gets all sweaty
I think that is the reason she was included

Brad Pitt always looked filthy to me. Same with Aguilera.

16. I read that she had gotten used to it (from years ago)
Apparently Brad doesn't like to bathe to often-he really likes the musky thing going on. At first she didn't like it but she got used to it......and the chain smoking.

I remember reading something about her malodorousness a while back. Maybe it was Anna Nicole Smith I'm thinking about. Both big buxom Texas blondes.
