Edited on Sat May-22-04 08:02 PM by terrya
Is it some weird medical disorder? Is it some sort of freakish, perverse mental illness? Am I a closet masochist? Why in the world would I subject myself watching and listening to 5 loud mouth gasbags (Eleanor Clift being slightly less objectionable because she has this minute liberal streak in her) scream at each other?

This is...quite odd.

Is there a "McLauglin Group Anonymous" I could go to get help for this strange activity?

1. Luckily for me,
the gag reflex kicks in when I hear RW gas escaping. Good luck though with your "condition". :)

4. I'm a member of MGA, but I miss Jack Germond
Lately, it has been amazing to watch John M argue the good side of the evil issues.

The end is certainly near.

6. And they replaced him with Tony (gag) Blankley. I respected Germond.
Germond was a decent and fair and good journalist.

8. I didn't know he was still writing after Jules Whitcover died.
I know Germond and Whitcover wrote a series of books on Presidential elections. Quite good ones.

I'd like to read Germond's book when it comes out.

5. The show's good enough when Elanor and Buchanan can drown out the others..
Pat Buchanan's no liberal by any means, but he sounds downright sensible these days, compared to the neocon traitor shitbags.

15. For me, it's pure nostalgia for the pre--cable-news-saturation days
There was a time when they were one of the few doing the format, if you think back over a decade.

And, god, yes, I miss Jack Germond.

17. My sister and I nicknamed the McLaughlin Group
"The Screamers" about ten years ago. We both still watch every Saturday night on WTTW. Some habits are just too hard to break.

18. thanks all
I fell into this place by accident. Just proves that there are good accidents.

Considering some of the spewage coming from the neocons and the disconnect from reality by all too many in the press, this is a nice place. Methinks I'll make myself comfortable here.

19. My first exposure ot MG was SNL
And I never got it. It just didn't seem funny to me. I saw it several times before finally, probably a couple of years later, actually seeing the real thing. I was astounded. He really DOES say BYE BYE at the end! He really tells people "Sorry you're wrong. The correct answer is ..."

Anyway, nowdays I'm addicted. But it's on at a very inconvenient time for me so I only get to see it occasionally. I like the opinionated, heated political shows, like "Inside Washington." Hate the boring, nonbiased ones like "Washington Week."
