35 in a school zone...cop was waiting behind bushes with a zapper pointed at my car.

3. I have always hated to drive and hate paying a fine even more.

What a waste of money.I have had to pay packing ticket more when I lent my car than I have got my self, and that really has made me mad.

7. I used to get a couple a year, when I was a kid.

Now, I haven't had a moving violation in about 15 years. And I drive like a maniac! They DO target certain types of people, I'm convinced. Ever since I became Middle-Aged White Guy, they leave me alone.

it was for a headlight that was out .

Near the fruit stand. The funniest thing (to me) was that I was on my way back to Seattle from a yoga retreat.:D

1. When I was 17 and speeding in front of the mayor's house.

2. When I was 18, rushing to get back to work from lunch.

3. When I was 30 and caught in a wolf pack just outside of
Nashville. I was the only one he pulled over.


It's been over 13 years since I've had any kind of ticket.

14. One at 16, 3 weeks after I got my license. Another

at 22 on my way to USAF pilot training in a Mississippi speed trap, and the third about 4 years ago.

That one really pissed me off. I was doing 60 in 55 zone. Backed off as soon as I saw the cop.
I'm white. I was 59. The cop was a mid-20s black man.
I live in coastal Alabama.
There is not a racist bone in my body.
I wish I could say the same for him.
He positively GLOATED.
"Well well, ol' man. You were goin' pretty fast there."
I know I cannot win this argument. I was polite. I called him "sir". Since I was only 5 miles over the limit, I hoped I'd get off with a warning after I groveled enough.

A pick-up came by, slowed, and pulled off the road.
"You wait right here, now. I'll be back in a minute."
He walked to the truck. Evidently the driver was a buddy of his. They chatted and laughed for about 15 minutes. The cop pointed back a me a couple of times.

Then he slowly walked back and wrote me a ticket for $70.
It wasn't fun being on the downside of a racist situation, but I already knew that, so it didn't "teach me a lesson".
p.s. Since I'd had an unblemished record for over 30 years, my insurance premium didn't go up, no thanks to the cop.
